This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in regulatory compliance, risk management, controls, and investigative processes who is ready to take on increasing ownership and operate with a high degree of judgment and professionalism. This is a hands-on role with room to grow and take ownership of increasingly complex compliance matters. This role is based in New York, NY on a hybrid schedule, and that is our preference. We will consider remote candidates in the United States who can work on Eastern time.\nKey responsibilities\nConduct compliance reviews, monitoring, and testing across april's regulatory obligations.\n\nReview and investigate potential compliance issues, document findings, and escalate where appropriate.\n\nIdentify control gaps and assist with remediation and follow-up.\n\nAssist with regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance assessments.\n\nMonitor regulatory developments relevant to tax software, data privacy, and financial services; summarize what matters for april; and propose and help implement updates to internal policies and procedures.\n\nRun point on customer due diligence requests: third-party risk management questionnaires, compliance and privacy due diligence questionnaires, audit requests, and ongoing monitoring asks from customers.\n\nWork with the Security team to deliver consistent, accurate answers across security, privacy, and regulatory questionnaires, and maintain the Legal/compliance answer bank.\n\nOwn the vendor compliance intake process: risk-tier new vendors, collect and review their security and privacy documentation, and route anything that needs Legal or Security review.\n\nKeep april's compliance policies current, track review dates, manage version control, and drive the annual review and approval cycle.\n\nCoordinate compliance training: schedule it, track completion, and help write content that people will read.\n\nSupport the AI governance program, including the inventory of AI use cases, vendor and model documentation, and review workflows.\n\nExperience\n1-4 years of experience in compliance, risk, privacy, or a closely related function, ideally at a regulated company or a firm serving regulated clients.\n\nWorking familiarity with at least one of: U.S. financial privacy law, data privacy frameworks, third-party risk management, or regulatory compliance in financial services or tax.\n\nStrong analytical and investigative skills, organizational habits. You keep trackers accurate, meet deadlines without being chased, and leave a record others can pick up.\n\nComfortable working independently and handling sensitive information.\n\nNice to have\nExperience at a fintech, bank, or tax software company, or in a role supporting those clients.\n\nExposure to IRC, IRS e-file provider rules, or tax-industry data protection requirements.\n\nExperience responding to bank or financial-institution due diligence questionnaires, or working inside a compliance management tool.\n\nPrivacy or compliance certification, or active progress toward one.\n\nIn compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.\nAbout april\napril is the only embedded, year-round tax platform built to power smarter financial decisions.
