This is a technical leadership role combining engineering management, architecture ownership, AI product development, and data-driven decision making.\nKey responsibilities\nLead a team of data scientists, data engineers and product analysts\n\nOwn the delivery of AI-powered product capabilities, from research and experimentation to production and operation\n\nDrive excellence, code quality, and best development practices\n\nProvide technical direction and hands-on guidance for complex AI systems\n\nDrive the integration of LLMs, AI agents, and intelligent workflows into core consumer experiences\n\nEnsure AI solutions are safe, scalable, observable, and continuously improving\n\nLead initiatives around product data analysis and experimentation\n\nAnalyze user interactions with product features to improve accuracy, UX, and business impact\n\nPartner with product teams to define metrics, dashboards, and experiments that guide product improvements\n\nDesign system architectures for AI-enabled applications at scale\n\nEvaluate and select technologies for AI platforms and data pipelines\n\nGuide the development of prompt engineering frameworks and centralized prompt management\n\nEnsure robust monitoring, evaluation, and feedback loops for AI outputs\n\nTranslate product and business goals into technical roadmaps and execution plans\n\nDrive alignment between AI capabilities and measurable product outcomes\n\nRequirements\n6+ years of software engineering experience building production-level systems.\n\n2+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience.\n\nStrong experience building large-scale backend systems in Python.\n\nExperience developing modern web applications using frameworks such as React / Next / Angular / Vue.\n\nExperience deploying and operating LLM-based systems in production, including evaluation and iteration.\n\nStrong understanding of data pipelines, experimentation, and product analytics.\n\nExperience with modern cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.\n\nPassion for clean code, scalable architectures, and data-driven product development.\n\nExperience with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and vector databases.\n\nExperience building AI agents or autonomous workflows\n\nNice to Have\nExperience with frameworks such as ADK, A2A, LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex or equivalent\n\nExperience with gRPC and protobuf-based architectures\n\nExperience building MCP servers\n\nBackground in data engineering, experimentation platforms, or ML infrastructure\n\nAbout april\napril is the only embedded, year-round tax platform built to power smarter financial decisions.
