It serves a diverse range of industries such as healthcare, technology, and manufacturing, operating through numerous offices across the United States and maintaining an international reach through its global partnerships.

Job Summary

Aprio is seeking an Associate Trader to join its Wealth Management team, where you will play a central role in the daily execution, operations, and continuous improvement of trading activity across client accounts. You will execute trades across equities, fixed income, ETFs, and mutual funds while maintaining alignment to model portfolios, client guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This role sits at the intersection of trading operations, data integrity, and emerging automation - offering the opportunity to directly shape how the desk evolves through AI-assisted workflows and process improvement. You will collaborate closely with advisors, the investment team, and internal operations to support accurate, timely, and compliant execution for clients.

What You'll Gain / Impact:

    • Direct, hands-on exposure to end-to-end trading operations and model-based portfolio management within a growing wealth management platform.
    • The opportunity to own meaningful automation and AI workflow initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy across the trading desk.
    • Cross-functional experience working alongside advisors, portfolio management, and internal operations teams.
    • A visible role in onboarding and integrating newly acquired RIA and advisor practices onto the firm's platform and models.
    • Professional growth within a high-growth, innovation-driven firm committed to excellence in client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

    Trading Operations:

  • Run post-trade audits, reconciling prior day activity in Orion Eclipse against custodian fills, and investigate discrepancies and settlement issues.
  • Set accounts up to trade to their assigned model in Orion Eclipse, covering new accounts as well as allocation changes on existing accounts.
  • Maintain account, model, and security data to support smooth daily trading activity, model-wide trades, and rebalancing.
  • Assist with account transitions and onboarding for newly acquired RIAs and advisor practices as accounts move onto the platform and firm models.
  • Respond to trade-related questions from advisors promptly and coordinate with internal operations and the investment team on day-to-day account activity, including data pulls to support model changes and portfolio reviews.
  • Monitor account drift against assigned models and build and maintain recurring reporting, including dispersion and drift reviews, cash, money market, holdings reports, and reconciliation files.
  • Write and maintain procedures for recurring work and keep a clear written record behind trades and exceptions.
  • Trade Execution:

  • Execute daily trade requests in Orion Eclipse across equities, bonds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and mutual funds accurately and on time.
  • Trade accounts assigned to a model, keeping holdings in line with model targets.
  • Raise cash for distributions, fees, and client requests, and invest incoming contributions and new money to the assigned model.
  • Trade in line with the firm's approach, client guidelines, and regulatory requirements, including managing the tax impact for clients.
  • Provide desk coverage during time off, periods of market volatility, and high-volume trading days.
  • Automation & AI:

  • Own a share of the desk's automation work: identify manual and repetitive steps in the daily trading process and rebuild them to reduce time and errors.
  • Design, test, and document AI-assisted workflows and agents for reconciliation prep, exception reporting, data validation, and routine documentation.

Qualifications:

    Required:

  • One to three years of experience in trading, trade operations, or investment operations at an RIA, wealth management firm, or asset manager.
  • Hands-on experience trading in model-based rebalancing or trade order management software - Orion Eclipse, Tamarac, iRebal, TRX, Envestnet, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major custodial platform - Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, Altruist, or similar.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with demonstrated ability to work through large data sets accurately.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • SIE and applicable Series licenses, or the ability to obtain them within three months of hire.
  • Preferred:

  • Experience with Python for data work - reading, reconciling, and validating trade and position files; no software engineering background required.
  • Demonstrated use of tooling to remove manual steps from a recurring process - Power Query, advanced Excel automation, macros, scripting, or similar.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools, including any experience designing or configuring AI-assisted workflows or agents.
