Join Aprio's Enterprise Tax team and you will help clients maximize their opportunities. Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a Director, Customs & Tariffs to join their dynamic team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Help multinational companies manage U.S. trade compliance requirements, identify duty-saving opportunities, and realize efficiencies in their global supply chain.
- Designing/expanding Firm's trade consulting services related to tariff classifications, country of origin, valuation, anti-dumping/countervailing ("AD/CVD") duties, Section 301/232 tariffs, free trade agreements, forced labor, "Partner Government Agency" matters, Intellectual Property Rights violations, and export controls laws and regulations (EAR, OFAC, and FTR).
- Preparing/filing administrative documents with government agencies such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Commerce, and U.S. Department of State, including Protests, Prior Disclosures, Voluntary Self Disclosures, Ruling Requests, Petitions for Relief, and letters related to reliquidation, Reconciliation, and transfer pricing adjustments.
- Monitoring and advising stakeholders on legal trends, developing areas of the trade law, and related issues that may impact Firm's operations and/or services.
- Helping Firm's any business development initiatives.
- Lead business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, preparing proposals, and expanding the Firm’s customs and trade consulting practice.
- Lead and develop project teams, including delegating responsibilities, supervising team members, and reviewing work products to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Scope, plan, and manage end-to-end customs projects, including establishing project objectives, deliverables, timelines, staffing requirements, and budgets; coordinating execution; and communicating results to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (“CTPAT”) and duty drawback matters is a plus.
- Develop and implement customs and tariff strategies and policies that are compliant with local and international regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs and tariff laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure accurate and timely customs and tariff filings.
- Manage relationships with customs authorities and third-party service providers.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments on customs and tariff-related matters.
- Monitor and analyze customs and tariff data to identify cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- CPA, EA required, or JD required
- Licensed Customs Broker required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, International Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Law, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in customs, tariffs, international trade, or global trade compliance.Deep knowledge of:
- CBP regulations
- HTS classification
- Customs valuation
- Country of origin requirements

- AD/CVD regulations
- Section 301/232 tariffs

- Proven client-facing consulting experience.
