The best tools available, used to build better products faster.\n\nWhat you’ll own\nWe're hiring more than one engineer for different teams, this means:\nYou’ll build and scale the backend powering our core product lines like Bill Pay or Apron Card and the systems our business depends on like fraud detection.\n\nYou'll work cross-functionally with Frontend Engineers, Product Managers and Product Designers to ship new features from discovery through to production.\n\nYou’ll design financial integrations where security and speed both matter.\n\nYou’ll share your experience with others, driving innovation, proactively suggesting improvements and raising the bar for the team.\n\nWhat you’ll need\n8+ years of continuous experience as a backend engineer.\n\nPrevious in-house experience working in a product-led + fast-paced environment (startup or Tech company).\n\nProficient in JVM-based languages,ideally Kotlin, for server-side development.\n\nComfort with relational databases and the trade-offs that come with them at scale.\n\nKeen attention to code quality, passion for efficient architecture, and commitment to optimising performance.\n\nWould be a plus if you have:\nHands-on Kotlin experience.\n\nKubernetes and Terraform experience.\n\nDeep Postgres experience: GIST indexes, partitioning, replication.\n\nWhat we offer\nHighly competitive salary + meaningful stock options\n\nPension plan with Nest\n\nHealth insurance (including Optical and Dental cover), Life Assurance\n\nEnhanced parental leave\n\nWeekly Deliveroo allowance\n\n29 days of holidays (on top of Bank holidays)\n\nFlexible working hours\n\nHybrid work 3 days a week in our London (Liverpool Street) offices.\n\nCycle to Work scheme, Electric vehicle scheme\n\nVisa sponsorship (when applicable)\n\nOur hiring process\nOur process is straightforward and runs at your pace.
