You will provide clear, business-focused advice that protects Aptiv’s interests, appropriately manages risk, and advances the company’s commercial objectives in a fast-paced global environment.\nROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nCommercial Counseling & Contract Management\nAct as a primary legal contact for assigned U.S. businesses and functions on a broad range of commercial and general counseling matters\nDraft, review, advise on, and negotiate agreements with customers, suppliers, and other third parties\nSupport U.S., cross-border, and global commercial transactions\nDevelop and implement contracting and negotiation strategies that maximize commercial value, protect Aptiv’s interests, and appropriately allocate risk\nDevelop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and practical legal guidance\nRisk Management & Dispute Resolution\nIdentify and anticipate legal and commercial risks and communicate them clearly to stakeholders\nDevelop practical, solution-oriented risk mitigation strategies\nSupport the strategic management of customer and supplier relationships\nAnalyze and resolve contract, warranty, pricing, quality, supply, and other commercial disputes\nCoordinate legal support for litigation, compliance, investigations, intellectual property, product safety, corporate governance, and other specialty matters\nSelect, instruct, and manage external counsel when appropriate, with attention to quality, efficiency, and cost\nBusiness Partnership & Global Collaboration\nPartner closely with leaders and stakeholders across Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and other support functions\nCollaborate with legal colleagues across regions and corporate legal specialists to support global customers, suppliers, transactions, and projects\nWork independently on U.S. matters while promoting a coordinated and consistent global approach\nContribute to global legal team initiatives, knowledge sharing, and best practices consistent with a One Aptiv approach\nCompliance, Training & Legal Excellence\nServe as a compliance champion and help reinforce Aptiv’s commitment to doing the right thing, the right way\nSupport compliance investigations, training, and related initiatives\nPrepare and deliver training on contracting, ethics, compliance, and other legal risks\nMaintain current knowledge of relevant U.S. legal and industry developments\nCoordinate advice on non-U.S. law with qualified local counsel when appropriate\nYour Background\nJuris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school\nActive membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar\nFive or more years of relevant legal experience advising multinational organizations on sophisticated commercial matters and transactions\nExperience gained at a leading law firm, within a corporate legal department, or through a combination of both\nStrong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements under U.S. law\nExperience supporting cross-border or international commercial matters\nDemonstrated ability to apply legal expertise with sound judgment, business acumen, and a practical commercial perspective\nAbility to manage multiple complex matters, competing priorities, and stakeholder expectations within a fast-paced global environment\nAbility to work independently and lead U.S. matters while collaborating effectively across regions, functions, and time zones\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely\nStrong relationship-building, influencing, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and project-management skills\nProfessional presence, integrity, and confidence to constructively challenge decisions or actions when required\nComfort using Microsoft Office applications, AI tools, and legal technology platforms, with a willingness to adopt new tools and ways of working\nExperience within automotive, manufacturing, technology, or another global industrial environment is preferred\nWhy Join Aptiv\nYou grow at Aptiv.\nAptiv's winning culture is global by design.
