This role provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership across the product development lifecycle, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance with automotive standards, and successful execution of business objectives.\nThe Engineering Director drives innovation, manages organizational capability, and collaborates closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Program Management, Supply Chain, and customers to deliver high-quality automotive solutions on time and within budget.\nKey Responsibilities\nStrategic Leadership\nDefine and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals and product roadmap.\nLead the development of next-generation automotive products, systems, and technologies.\nDrive innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of industry best practices.\nSupport organizational growth through capability development and technology planning.\nEngineering Management\nLead and develop managers, technical leaders, and engineering teams across multiple disciplines.\nEstablish clear objectives, performance expectations, and development plans.\nFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.\nBuild organizational capability through succession planning and talent development.\nProduct Development\nOversee the complete product development lifecycle from concept through production launch and sustaining engineering.\nEnsure engineering deliverables meet performance, quality, cost, timing, and regulatory requirements.\nDrive resolution of complex technical issues and critical customer concerns.\nEnsure successful execution of engineering projects and program milestones.\nAutomotive Compliance & Quality\nEnsure compliance with applicable automotive standards and customer requirements, including:ASPICE\nISO 26262 Functional Safety\nIATF 16949\nCybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434)\nRegulatory and homologation requirements\n\nSupport quality initiatives and root cause analysis for field and manufacturing issues.\nChampion engineering quality and risk management processes.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner closely with Program Management to achieve program objectives.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure successful product industrialization.\nWork with customers to understand requirements and support business development activities.\nSupport commercial discussions, quotations, and technical proposals.\nFinancial & Operational Management\nManage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and workforce planning.\nMonitor project performance, engineering metrics, and organizational effectiveness.\nEnsure efficient utilization of engineering resources.\nIdentify and mitigate technical, operational, and business risks.\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering, or related field).\nMaster's degree preferred.\nMBA is an advantage.\nExperience\n12+ years of progressive engineering experience within the automotive industry.\n5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles.\nProven track record leading large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations.\nExperience delivering automotive products from concept through production launch.\nExperience working with global teams and customers.\nTechnical Knowledge\nStrong understanding of automotive product development processes.\nKnowledge of systems, hardware, software, or vehicle engineering.\nFamiliarity with ASPICE, ISO 26262, IATF 16949, and automotive cybersecurity requirements.\nUnderstanding of project management methodologies and product lifecycle management principles.\nLeadership Competencies\nStrategic Thinking\nExecutive Communication\nOrganizational Leadership\nCustomer Focus\nTalent Development\nChange Management\nInnovation Leadership\nDecision Making Under Uncertainty\nStakeholder Management\nBusiness Acumen\nWHY JOIN US?\nYou can grow at Aptiv.
