This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role that combines people leadership, systems and software engineering, technology strategy, architecture development, and direct engineering contribution. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AI, embedded computing, robotics, software engineering, and systems engineering, with a proven track record of driving product development from requirements through deployment, building high-performing teams, and delivering scalable, reliable, and production-ready solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam & Technical Leadership\nBuild, lead, and grow a world-class team of Edge AI, robotics, and embedded software engineers.\nMentor engineers and technical leads through coaching, career planning, and technical development.\nFoster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.\nManage project prioritization, resource allocation, technical risk mitigation, and delivery planning.\nDefine and execute the technical roadmap for Edge AI and Robotics platforms aligned with Aptiv's broader Robotics and Adjacent Markets strategy.\nDrive architecture decisions spanning Edge AI, embedded computing, robotics software, autonomy systems, cloud infrastructure, and intelligent machine platforms.\nEstablish engineering best practices for scalable, reusable, maintainable, and production-ready software.\nEvaluate emerging AI technologies, compute architectures, accelerators, software frameworks, and development tools.\nDrive systems engineering, requirements management, and product development processes across the full lifecycle from concept through release.\nEstablish scalable engineering practices spanning systems engineering, software development, testing, configuration management, and release governance.\nLead requirements definition, decomposition, traceability, verification, and validation using tools such as Polarion ALM, DOORS, or equivalent.\nHands-On Technical Leadership\nServe as a hands-on technical leader who actively contributes to architecture reviews, software design, technology evaluations, and critical engineering challenges.\nMaintain deep involvement in software development, AI model deployment, system optimization, and platform architecture decisions.\nPartner directly with engineers to solve challenging problems in AI inference, embedded systems, robotics software, and heterogeneous computing.\nParticipate in code reviews, design reviews, technical deep dives, benchmarking activities, and root-cause investigations.\nContribute to technical decisions involving AI frameworks, compute architectures, software platforms, sensor integration, and deployment strategies.\nStay current with advancements in Edge AI, robotics, autonomous systems, embedded compute, and intelligent machines.\nBalance management responsibilities with meaningful technical contribution, maintaining credibility as both a leader and engineer.\nEdge AI Platform Development\nLead development of scalable Edge AI platforms supporting perception, computer vision, multimodal AI, sensor fusion, and intelligent decision-making.\nGuide deployment and optimization of AI workloads across CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP, FPGA, and heterogeneous SoC architectures.\nDrive model optimization initiatives including quantization, pruning, distillation, compression, compilation, and hardware acceleration.\nOversee deployment across NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, Intel, NXP, TI, Renesas, Ambarella and similar embedded AI platforms.\nEnsure solutions meet demanding requirements for latency, throughput, power efficiency, memory utilization, reliability, and scalability.\nDevelop reusable software frameworks and reference architectures that can scale across multiple products and platforms.\nEmbedded Systems & Software Engineering\nLead development of high-performance software in C/C++, Python, and modern systems programming environments.\nDrive software architecture decisions that maximize portability across hardware platforms and operating environments.\nGuide teams working with Linux-based embedded systems, RTOS environments, containerized applications, and cross-compilation toolchains.\nCollaborate closely with hardware and silicon teams to influence compute architecture, accelerator selection, sensor integration, and platform trade-offs.\nChampion software engineering best practices including code quality, testing, observability, maintainability, and documentation.\nDrive software engineering best practices including requirements management, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, static analysis, and quality metrics.\nRobotics (Preferred)\nLead engineering efforts supporting robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, AMRs, drones, and intelligent machines.\nCollaborate with robotics teams developing perception, localization, mapping, planning, and control capabilities.\nSupport integration of Edge AI solutions with ROS 2, DDS, robotics middleware, and autonomy stacks.\nPromote simulation-based development and validation using Isaac Sim, Gazebo, CARLA, digital twin platforms, or similar technologies.\nBasic Qualifications\nMaster's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.\n10+ years of experience developing software and AI solutions for embedded systems, robotics, autonomous systems, or edge computing platforms.\n3+ years of engineering management, technical leadership, or team leadership experience.\nProven success building and leading high-performing engineering teams.\nDemonstrated ability to lead engineering organizations while remaining technically hands-on.\nExpert-level proficiency in C/C++ and Python.\nDeep experience deploying and optimizing AI/ML workloads on embedded and edge computing platforms.\nStrong understanding of heterogeneous computing architectures including CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP, FPGA, and accelerator-based systems.\nExperience with AI deployment frameworks such as TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, OpenVINO, TFLite, TVM, or equivalent technologies.\nExperience working with Linux-based embedded systems and cross-compilation workflows.\nStrong understanding of system-level performance optimization, profiling, debugging, and reliability engineering.\nExperience with systems engineering, requirements management, traceability, and verification/validation of complex embedded or intelligent systems.\nExperience leading cross-functional projects involving hardware, software, systems engineering, and AI disciplines.\nExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nStrong understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, DevOps, and software lifecycle management. \nExperience deploying perception, sensor fusion, computer vision, multimodal AI, localization, SLAM, planning, or control systems. \nExperience leading teams developing robotics, AMRs, AGVs, drones, industrial automation systems, or intelligent machines. \nExperience with ROS 2, DDS, robotics middleware, and autonomous systems development. \nExperience with simulation environments including Isaac Sim, Gazebo, CARLA, or digital twin platforms. \nExperience influencing semiconductor, accelerator, or embedded platform roadmaps. \nExperience working with globally distributed engineering teams. \nExperience with Polarion, Automotive SPICE (ASPICE), or similar engineering methodologies. \nExperience leading cross-functional systems, software, and product engineering activities in safety-critical or highly regulated environments. \nKnowledge of safety-critical
