Ltd.,\nSite : Chennai Engineering Centre, Chennai, India\nTitle of Position : Design Engineer\nDepartment : Product Development\nReports To : Manager\nPOSITION SUMMARY:\nTo support the CS Global Product Development teams in product design and development\n MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO BE ACCOMPLISHED:\n Responsible for product design and development using NX software.\n Responsible for project planning and executions.\n To ensure the project quality as per the standards\n To meet the delivery deadlines.\nEDUCATION (Qualifications obtained in the course of formal education and/or training) -\nBachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering stream.\nMajor Accountabilities:\nOwn the end-to-end design, development, and release of automotive Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) \nelectrical centers, including\nfuse boxes, power distribution units, HV junction boxes, and related assemblies.\nPerform hands-on MCAD design using Siemens NX, including creation and maintenance of 3D part and assembly \nmodels, large assemblies,\ndetailed 2D drawings, specifications, and BOMs for mechanical and electromechanical systems.\nInterpret engineering drawings and specifications, effectively communicating design intent to manufacturing and \nquality teams.\nApply GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and packaging constraints to ensure dimensional accuracy and proper \nintegration of complex\nelectrical and mechanical interfaces.\nEnsure designs comply with automotive requirements for thermal performance, electrical safety, sealing (IP \nratings), vibration, and durability.\nDrive Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test (DFM/DFA/DFT) in collaboration with manufacturing \nengineering, tooling teams, and\nsuppliers.\nManage design release and configuration control through established ECR/ECN processes, ensuring data \naccuracy, traceability, and revision\ncontrol.\nSupport Design Validation (DV) and Production Validation (PV) activities by reviewing test results and \nimplementing corrective and preventive\ndesign actions.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with electrical, CAE, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supplier teams to \nresolve technical, production,\nand launch issues.\nSupport supplier technical reviews, tooling development, PPAP activities, and production launch readiness.\nApply prototyping techniques to develop and evaluate physical prototypes for design validation and testing.\n EDUCATION\n(Qualifications obtained in the course of formal education and/or training) -\nBachelor of Engineering in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering stream.\nEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:\nMinimum 3 to 8 years of experience in the Connector / Automotive / Complex plastic / sheet metal Product Design and Development.\nInternal\nPERSONALITY TRAITS:\n Planning and Co-ordination\n Communication skills\n Quick learning skills & Innovative\n Team work\n Pro-active and multi- tasking\nPrivacy Notice - Active Candidates: https://www.aptiv.com/privacy-notice-active-candidates\nAptiv is an equal employment opportunity employer.
