This role is not limited to maintaining pipelines or resolving build issues. The right candidate will be expected to improve how engineering teams build, test, release, troubleshoot, and operate platform software across a complex distributed product environment.\nThe right candidate will possess proven software engineering skills. You are expected to be versatile and able to thrive in a dynamic environment. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and can bring order to ambiguous scenarios. Impeccable judgment, and the ability to influence and lead are essential to success in this role.\nThis person should be comfortable working across software engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, release engineering, and open-source cloud-native technologies.\nResponsibilities:\nOwner of the virtualization environment for the Wind River Cloud Platform product.\n\nOwn and improve CI/CD workflows supporting Wind River Cloud Platform, Conductor, and related products.\n\nImprove build reliability, release readiness, build reporting, failure analysis, and actionable pipeline telemetry.\n\nDevelop automation to reduce manual effort across build, test, release, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational workflows.\n\nWork with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Ansible, OpenStack, and StarlingX to support distributed edge and carrier-grade platform deployments.\n\nAct as a senior technical contributor who brings structure to ambiguous problems, communicates risks clearly, and drives issues to closure.\n\nContribute actively to StarlingX, an open-source project under the Open Infrastructure Foundation - a fully featured cloud infrastructure software stack for the edge (https://www.starlingx.io/).\n\nDevelop and deliver platform features with high quality design and code.\n\nBuild tooling that improves developer productivity, reduces SDLC friction, and makes engineering workflows more repeatable.\n\nAct as a senior technical contributor who brings structure to ambiguous problems, communicates risks clearly, and drives issues to closure.\n\nParticipate in all aspects of the software development process using agile development.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.\n\n3 to 5 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure engineerin g, or release engineering with a Bachelor's degree or 4+ years with a Master’s degree.\n\n3+ years of programming experience with Python or Linux.\n\n1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.\n\nHands-on experience with CI/CD ecosystems such as Gerrit, Zuul, Jenkins, and GitLab CI, including build reliability, pipeline optimization, release readiness, and actionable reporting.\n\nPlus: Experience with automation and platform tooling, including configuration management, deployment automation, artifact management, container registries, and image build pipelines.\n\nAbility to work across multiple teams and drive issues to closure without needing constant direction.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with StarlingX, OpenStack, Kubernetes, or edge/cloud infrastructure platforms supporting distributed, carrier-grade, or mission-critical systems.\n\nExperience supporting source control and CI/CD modernization or migration efforts, pipeline conversion, runner strategy, repository governance, branching models, access controls, and developer enablement.\n\nExperience improving observability and operational reliability through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, engineering metrics, troubleshooting workflows, and production-readiness practices.\n\nExperience working in open-source, Agile, and globally distributed engineering environments, with strong ownership, collaboration, and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations.\n\nExposure to Kiro, Amazon Q or similar agentic/spec-driven development tools is an asset.\n\nThis role is compensation range is between $95,000 to $120,000 CAD annual plus annual incentive plan bonus. Compensation is determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members.
