Senior Engineers work independently on hardware enablement, support new platforms, and mentor junior engineers in BSP development.\nIn your daily job you will:\nDevelopment & Implementation\nDevelop and maintain BSP components and configurations\n\nEnable new hardware platforms and processors\n\nSupport hardware bring-up and validation\n\nWrite high-quality, maintainable code following team standards\n\nDebug and resolve complex BSP-related issues\n\nOptimizeBSP performance and compatibility\n\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers\n\nParticipate in code reviews and technical discussions\n\nContribute to architecture and design decisions\n\nDrive technical improvements and best practices\n\nLead technical initiatives and small projects\n\nTeam Collaboration\nCollaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners\n\nWork with distributed teams across US, Romania, and India\n\nShare knowledge through documentation and technical discussions\n\nParticipate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives\n\nContribute to team process improvements\n\nBoard Support Packages Specific\nDevelop and maintain BSP components and configurations\n\nEnable new hardware platforms and processors\n\nSupport hardware bring-up and validation\n\nWork with hardware vendors and partners\n\nConfigure device trees and hardware abstraction layers\n\nDesign solutions for complex BSP problems\n\nGuide technical direction for BSP components\n\nMaintain compatibility across hardware platforms\n\nRequired Competencies:\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n\n5+ years of software engineering experience\n\n3+ years of experience with embedded systems and hardware\n\nExperience with C/C++ programming in production systems\n\nStrong background in software development lifecycleusing Linux.\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrongproficiencyin C/C++ programmingwith Linux.\n\nSolid understanding of embedded systems and hardware\n\nExperience with embedded systems development\n\nKnowledge of build systems (Yocto,Buildroot, or similar)\n\nStrong debugging and problem-solving skills\n\nExperience with version control (Git) and code review\n\nUnderstanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum)\n\nDomain Knowledge\nBoard support packages (BSP)\n\nHardware enablement\n\nDevice trees and hardware configuration\n\nBootloaders (U-Boot, etc.)\n\nHardware abstraction layers\n\nEmbedded hardware interfaces\n\nPerformance optimization\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience withYoctoProject\n\nExperience with hardware bring-up and validation\n\nUnderstanding ofprocessor architectures (ARM, x86, etc.)\n\nExperience with device drivers\n\nKnowledge of bootloaders and boot processes\n\nOpen sourcecontributions\n\nExperience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial sectors\n\n“Windriver is an equal employment opportunity employer.
