This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to design scalable, maintainable, and high-quality systems that meet customer requirements and business objectives.\nIn your daily job you will:\nSystem Architecture Design\nDefine overall system architecture and component structure\nDesign APIs, interfaces, and integration points between components\nCreate architectural diagrams, specifications, and documentation\nEnsure architecture supports scalability, performance, and maintainability\nAddress non-functional requirements (security, reliability, safety, performance)\nTechnical Strategy & Vision\nDevelop technical vision and roadmap for system evolution\nEvaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tools\nDefine technical standards and guidelines organization-wide\n Plan for long-term technical debt reduction and system improvements\n Balance innovation with stability and risk management\nArchitecture Governance\nReview and approve architectural decisions and designs\nEnsure consistency and alignment across teams and projects\nIdentify and resolve architectural conflicts and issues\nEstablish architecture review processes and best practices\nMaintain architecture documentation and knowledge base\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide technical guidance to engineering teams\nMentor engineers on architecture and design principles\nLead architecture discussions and technical reviews\nCollaborate with technical leads and senior engineers\nDrive technical excellence and quality standards\nHOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE \nKey skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:\nBachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n10+ years of software engineering experience\n7+ years of experience with embedded Linux or systems software\n5+ years in architecture or senior technical design roles\nExperience designing and architecting complex, large-scale systems\n Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis - without requirement for any type of visa sponsorship/transfer, now, or at any time in future. Candidates based in San Diego, CA, Walnut Creek, CA, or Boston, MA will also be considered.
