Headquartered in Nanterre, France, Arabelle Solutions is a global leader in nuclear turbine island technology and lifecycle engineering services, operating as a subsidiary of Électricité de France (EDF). The company specializes in the design, manufacturing, maintenance, and lifetime extension of mission-critical power generation equipment, including high-capacity steam turbines, generators, pumps, heat exchangers, and instrumentation systems for both conventional nuclear plants and small modular reactors (SMRs). With its turbine systems deployed across approximately one-third of the world’s nuclear fleet, it plays an essential role in driving reliable, low-carbon electricity generation and energy transition initiatives worldwide.
The Manufacturing and Methods Engineering Manager reports to the Factory Leader and is accountable for industrialising design intent across the site's Naval and Civil programmes. The role owns the Manufacturing Engineering and Methods function, including the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC), and establishes methods engineering as a formal capability where none currently exists.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own and deploy Manufacturing Engineering processes, standards, engineering specifications, and best-practice methods of manufacture.
  • Manage the Responsible Welding Coordinator, ensuring welding coordination is properly resourced and discharged: WPS/PQR control, welder qualification and coding, welding supervision, and closure of open weld-quality root cause investigations, in line with 3834 Pt2.
  • Establish and govern consumable control and weld traceability standards.
  • Define and deploy in-process inspection requirements with Quality, replacing current reliance on end-of-process detection.
  • Apply technical authority and governance to all technical changes and design-intent compliance.
  • Pull NPI in line with APQP alongside the Business Unit project quality/design team - validating documentation, processes, equipment, and facilities through pilot, pre-production, production, and run-at-rate, with control plans, PFMEA, process flow, MSA, and first article complete ahead of each gate.
  • Deliver capability CAPEX in line with business, customer, and programme requirements.
  • Lead deployment of CAM, CAPP, and shop floor systems across existing production and the new facility.
  • Plan Manufacturing Engineering resource, skills, and capability at team and individual level, including recruitment to build out the function.
  • Provide technical direction for the revalidation and manufacture of steam turbine and generator components.
  • Strengthen the link between shop floor execution and Tendering, Project Management, Procurement, and Planning, closing the gaps that contribute to Cost and OTD variance.
  • Maintain a forward look for manufacturing development, capacity improvement, shop layout, and advanced manufacturing technologies applicable to the business.
  • Work with the CI/Productivity function to drive sustainable, evidenced process change.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support customer and regulatory audit engagements.
  • Manage cross-skill training and the site SQEP matrix to reduce knowledge gaps.
  • Act in accordance with defined Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety instructions, including general and company rules.
  • Undertake any other duty reasonably required by the Factory Leader.

Qualification Requirements

  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, or equivalent), or equivalent demonstrated practical experience.
  • Sufficient working knowledge of welding coordination under 3834Pt2 to govern, resource, and challenge the function - specialist welding qualification is not required.
  • Applied experience of APQP/PPAP and its core deliverables in a regulated or high-integrity manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct and lead through ambiguity.
  • This role supports UK Defence customers and requires the ability to hold or obtain SC-level security clearance as a UK passport holder. Dual passport holders are acceptable where the second country is approved by the vetting authority.

Desired Competencies

  • Steam turbine and generator product and process knowledge.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean qualification and applied experience.
  • Facility build, equipment installation, and process validation on a new or greenfield site.
  • Knowledge of CAM, PLM, and MES systems.
  • CAPEX management.

Behavioural and Technical Skills / Competencies

  • Managing concurrent, multi-workstream programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of factory capability, resource planning, lead time, and cost drivers.
  • Risk management and structured problem solving.
  • Resilience.
  • Winning and influencing across a matrix organisation without direct authority.
  • Shaping and driving change where current practice must be displaced.
  • Building partnerships and managing stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management, and customer and regulatory bodies.
