The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it\nWho we’re looking for\nWe’re looking for a curious, hands-on engineer who wants to understand how things are built and make the process better. You’ll join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Torrance, working alongside engineers, technicians, supervisors, and quality partners on real production challenges.\nWith mentorship from a full-time engineer, you’ll own a scoped improvement project from observing the process and collecting data through implementing a solution and measuring the results. You should enjoy spending time on the production floor, listening to the people doing the work, and turning ideas into practical improvements.\nInternship Term - June 14-August 20, 2027, onsite at our Torrance headquarters.\nWhat You'll Do\nObserve production processes and perform time studies to identify bottlenecks, excess motion, rework, and opportunities to reduce build hours.\nCreate and improve work instructions, process flows, and assembly sequences with input from technicians and engineers.\nDesign, prototype, and validate tools, fixtures, and shop aids that improve repeatability, ergonomics, and build quality.\nSupport root-cause investigations into production issues and help implement corrective actions.\nPartner with design engineering and quality to improve manufacturability and support the introduction of new parts or processes.\nUse build and quality data to compare performance before and after changes, documenting results and lessons learned.\nPresent your project, results, and recommended next steps to the team at the end of the internship.\nMinimum Qualifications\nPursuing a degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline.\nExperience building, assembling, testing, or improving hardware through coursework, a student team, research, an internship, or personal projects.\nFoundational understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and common manufacturing or assembly methods.\nBasic ability to create or modify parts in a 3D CAD tool.\nAbility to organize and analyze data using Excel, Google Sheets, or a similar tool.\nClear communication, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to solving problems.\nWillingness to work hands-on in a production environment, follow safety procedures, and learn from technicians.\nBonus Qualifications\nExperience with composites, bonding, trimming, finishing, mechanical assembly, or battery manufacturing.\nExposure to time studies, standard work, line balancing, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement.\nExperience designing fixtures or using machining, 3D printing, or other fabrication methods.\nFamiliarity with NX, Teamcenter, a manufacturing execution system, or digital work instructions.\nExperience on a student engineering team or in a manufacturing setting.\nInterest in electric vehicles, boats, and improving how products are built.\nAt Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status.
