With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.\nRole description:\nArcadis is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join the Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) team supporting the Fraser River Tunnel Project in Vancouver, British Columbia. Working under the direction and supervision of licensed professional engineers, the successful candidate will provide field-based geotechnical and construction engineering support, document site conditions and construction progress, assist with technical reviews, and coordinate with multidisciplinary design and construction teams.\nThis position is intended for an early-career engineering professional seeking progressive experience toward professional engineering registration while contributing to the delivery of a major infrastructure project.\nRole accountabilities:\nProvide geotechnical field engineering support during construction and preparatory works under the supervision of licensed professional engineers.\nObserve construction activities and document field conditions, progress, equipment, materials, and issues relevant to the geotechnical scope.\nPrepare clear and accurate daily field observation reports, site records, photographs, markups, progress summaries, and supporting documentation.\nSupport geotechnical investigations, including drilling and rock coring supervision, borehole and core logging, soil and rock sampling, groundwater observations, monitoring well activities, and field testing.\nAssist with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring activities and maintain organized monitoring and field records.\nSupport the review of contractor submissions, work method statements, shop drawings, requests for information, technical queries, and field change documentation within the limits of the EIT role.\nCompare observed construction activities against approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and design requirements, and promptly escalate potential deviations or concerns to the responsible professional engineer.\nCoordinate with the ESDC team, design disciplines, construction personnel, contractors, client representatives, and specialist consultants while following established communication protocols.\nParticipate in site meetings, safety briefings, coordination meetings, and technical discussions as required.\nSupport preparation of technical memoranda, calculations, data summaries, drawings, schedules, and closeout records.\nMaintain project records in applicable document and project management systems.\nComply with project health, safety, environmental, quality, and site-access requirements.\nSupport day, night, or weekend site coverage when required by the construction program\nQualifications & Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.\nRegistered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or eligible for EIT registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.\nApproximately three years of relevant geotechnical, geological, environmental, construction, or infrastructure experience.\nPractical experience in field investigations, drilling supervision, borehole or core logging, soil and rock sampling, groundwater monitoring, or construction observation.\nAbility to prepare accurate, concise, and well-organized field and technical documentation.\nStrong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work effectively in multidisciplinary office and field environments.\nValid driver's licence and willingness to travel to and work at active construction sites.\nExperience supporting transportation, tunnelling, marine, bridge, rail, or other major civil infrastructure projects.\nExperience with groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, geotechnical instrumentation, compaction testing, or environmental/geotechnical sampling.\nExperience preparing daily field reports and maintaining construction progress records.\nFamiliarity with Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWise, SharePoint, or comparable project delivery systems.\nKnowledge of Canadian construction practices, geotechnical standards, and engineering documentation requirements.\nWhy Arcadis?\nWe can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
