The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on land development projects while progressively developing client management, project financial management, business development, and team leadership skills. This is not an immediate Project Manager role, but rather a deliberate progression toward managing projects, clients, schedules, and budgets under the mentorship of senior leaders.\nRole accountabilities:\nPOSITION DUTIES\nAct as the Project Engineer (PE) and technical lead on assigned land development projects alongside Project Managers, Senior Engineers, and Designers.\nLead the preparation and review of grading, servicing, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and site servicing designs.\nCoordinate with planners, architects, landscape architects, surveyors, geotechnical consultants, environmental consultants, utility agencies, municipalities, and approval authorities.\nParticipate in client, municipal, and consultant meetings as a technical representative of the project team.\nDevelop an understanding of client objectives, project risks, project budgets, approval strategies, and delivery schedules.\nBuild and maintain professional relationships with clients, municipal reviewers, utility agencies, and project stakeholders.\nGuide projects through preliminary design, municipal approvals, detailed design, tendering, construction, and assumption.\nConduct site visits, construction reviews, and field investigations as required.\nDemonstrate leadership and initiative in identifying project risks, technical challenges, schedule impacts, and client concerns before they become project issues.\nContribute to proposal preparation, project planning, fee development, staffing forecasts, and business development activities.\nWork on projects that include:\nResidential developments\nDraft Plan Subdivisions\nHigh-rise and mixed-use developments\nIndustrial and employment lands\nCommercial developments\nInstitutional projects\nMunicipal infrastructure improvements\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead municipal approval submissions and coordinate responses to review comments for Site Plan, Draft Plan of Subdivision, Condominium, and related planning applications.\nDevelop and execute approval strategies in collaboration with senior project managers, clients, municipalities, and project teams.\nServe as the primary technical contact for assigned clients. \nParticipate in client meetings and presentations. \nBuild long-term client relationships through responsive service and technical leadership. \nSupport identification of future opportunities with existing clients.\nLead technical delivery of grading, servicing, stormwater management, and land development projects.\nPrepare and oversee engineering designs, calculations, reports, and construction drawing packages.\nAuthor, coordinate, or review:Functional Servicing Reports (FSRs)\nStormwater Management Reports (SWMs)\nEngineering Briefs\nCivil land development type engineering submissions (servicing, grading etc..)\n\nReview and direct Civil 3D production completed by designers and technologists.\nInterpret municipal standards, agency requirements, engineering criteria, geotechnical recommendations, and site constraints to develop practical engineering solutions.\nCoordinate directly with clients, municipalities, utility agencies, review authorities, architects, and partner consultants regarding project requirements and approvals.\nLead responses to municipal review comments and coordinate revisions with internal project teams.\nManage action items arising from project meetings and maintain accountability for deliverables.\nSupport Project Managers with:\nProject schedules\nResource planning\nScope management\nFee tracking\nChange management\nClient communications\nProgressively assume responsibility for managing small projects or portions of larger projects under the mentorship of senior staff.\nPerform QA/QC reviews of drawings, engineering reports, calculations, and submission packages.\nMentor EITs, Designers, and Technologists on design principles, municipal approvals, project delivery, and professional practice.\nSupport proposal preparation, business development initiatives, client presentations, and pursuit activities.\nQualifications & Experience:\nTECHNICAL calculations\nConstruction cost estimates\nMUST-HAVE\nCivil Engineering degree.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario, or actively pursuing licensure with a clearly demonstrated path toward obtaining designation.\n5 - 8 years of relevant land development consulting experience.\nExperience leading technical delivery of Site Plan, Subdivision, and/or Condominium developments.\nExperience coordinating directly with municipalities, clients, and external consultants.\nStrong understanding of Ontario municipal engineering standards and approval processes.\nExperience preparing or coordinating Functional Servicing Reports and Stormwater Management Reports.\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.\nStrong technical writing skills and ability to prepare professional engineering documentation.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.\nStrong verbal communication and client-facing presentation skills.\nDemonstrated initiative, accountability, and leadership potential.\nNICE-TO-HAVE\nExperience within GTA municipalities and approval agencies.\nHamilton, Halton, Peel, York Region, Durham Region, or Toronto approvals experience.\nPCSWMM, Visual OTTHYMO, or other stormwater modelling software experience.\nPrevious experience mentoring EITs, Designers, or Technologists.\nConstruction administration and field review experience.\nProposal preparation and fee estimate experience.\nExposure to project financial management and scope control.\nBusiness development or client account pathway.
