With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.\nRole description:\nThe Senior Data Scientist is responsible and accountable for leading (and overseeing) technical delivery of Arcadis digital and analytical solutions. The Senior Data Scientist will provide expertise through the implementation of these solutions for our customers, maximising the value of their data to solve their most pressing business problems.\nThe role sits within our Asset Management service area, in the Solutions Delivery group. This group serves large asset owning organisations across water, rail and road, government and other sectors. The solutions we provide are a combination of configured products and services, so whilst experience in these sectors is desirable, a curiosity to understand the “why” behind the problem and the ability to contextualize to the sector, are essential.\nThe Senior Data Scientist is responsible for the management and delivery of projects, be required to coach other Junior Data Scientists and Junior Analytics Consultants within the Solution Delivery group and contribute to business development and growth. They will play a key client-facing role throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution demonstrations through to results presentation, training, and supporting adoption of delivered solutions.\nThe Senior Data Scientist will also work closely with other Arcadis teams, including those within the global Solutions Delivery group and Arcadis Product and Technology teams, who are responsible for Arcadis digital products and tooling (such as EDA). Further to this, the Senior Data Scientist will interface with the wider business to provide guidance on future solutions and technical input for analytics solutions and products.\nRole accountabilities:\nDriving quality and innovation within data analytics solutions and identifying and disseminating best practice in terms of approaches and tooling. This role includes and surpasses the need to align around our standards and ways of working; it requires active contribution to improving our standards into the future. \nManage the delivery of analytical projects to clients ensuring assigned projects are delivered on time, within budget, to high quality and in accordance with project scope. \nDevelop strong and trusted relationships with client representatives driven by track record and credibility. \nAct as analytics solution architect, ensuring that the design fully meets the client’s needs and wherever possible has the potential to be offered to other clients with minimal re-work to maximise future revenue. \nManage outputs and quality throughout delivery of a project ensuring all work packages align to the project scope. \nPeer review of reports, dashboards and code produced by colleagues. \nProvide support for business development including: \nDelivery of technical sales support including software demonstrations. \nWriting proposals for client projects and scope changes and convert them to sales. \nIdentifying opportunities to generate additional revenue and develop new revenue streams. \nEnsure the services and software delivered fully meets client expectations and delivers value in terms of realisation of business benefits. \nQualifications & Experience:\nThe ideal candidate will have a background in solution deployment and analytics consultancy, ideally within a physical asset owning company context. They will have good communication and organisational skills. They will have a strong understanding of advanced analytics techniques such as optimisation and general numerical modelling. A keen interest in the latest technologies is important, to help ensure that our work stays on the cutting edge.\nMore importantly than these technical skills, however, we are looking for someone to be an analytics leader, pushing forward the boundaries of what we do, and the standards expected of the wider analytics team. The successful candidate will need to be resilient and maintain a positive attitude when faced with challenges, be an excellent problem-solver, and be happy to be out of their comfort zone. They will need to have excellent communication skills, not just at a technical level, but also with more business-focused colleagues. They will not shy away from a challenge and will stand up and be counted. They will never be satisfied and always look to find the next improvement in what Arcadis does, and how we do it.\nExperience of delivery of analytical projects in a consultancy environment. \nAn effective communicator who is credible, confident and articulate. Able to communicate complex technical detail (both verbal and written) to non-technical audiences. \nProven ability in presenting methodologies and results to all levels in a business environment. \nDemonstrable skills in data collection and interpretation. \nExperience coaching other technology professionals at various levels. \nAbility to simplify the complex using different communication styles and navigate differing stakeholder points of view. \nUnderstanding of investment models, assets and systems of assets, including Optimisation (linear and non-linear), Prioritisation and Monte Carlo analysis. \nExperience of working for a large asset owning company, or on projects for such companies, would be advantageous. \nPredictive and/or prescriptive analytics and machine learning. \nPractical experience of mathematical and statistical analysis and modelling skills, including sensitivity and scenario analysis of analytical models. \nDemonstrable use of R, Python, Matlab, SAS, SPSS or similar statistical packages to process data and carry out advanced analytics techniques. \nExperience in advanced data visualisation techniques along with tools such as Qlik, Power BI and open source visualisation tools. \nExperience working with professional coding technologies such as Git and Docker.
