In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the technical delivery, design oversight, and project execution of complex building projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, transportation, industrial, and mixed-use sectors.\nAs a senior member of the team, you will lead multidisciplinary project teams, mentor junior engineers, engage directly with clients, and provide technical expertise throughout all phases of project delivery. You will play a key role in driving innovative, sustainable, and resilient mechanical engineering solutions while supporting business growth and strengthening client relationships.\nRole accountabilities:\nLead the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems for building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls, and building automation systems.\nServe as the mechanical engineering lead for medium to large-scale projects from concept through construction and commissioning.\nProvide technical direction, design oversight, and quality reviews for project deliverables.\nDevelop and review engineering calculations, reports, specifications, studies, and construction documents.\nPerform and oversee heating and cooling load calculations, equipment selection, energy modelling, and system optimization.\nCoordinate closely with architectural, structural, electrical, civil, and specialty engineering disciplines.\nManage project scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements in collaboration with project managers.\nConduct technical reviews of drawings, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submissions.\nLead site investigations, condition assessments, field reviews, and commissioning activities.\nIdentify sustainable and energy-efficient solutions that support client decarbonization and net-zero objectives.\nMentor and develop intermediate and junior engineers, designers, and technical staff.\nSupport proposal development, fee estimates, project pursuits, and client presentations.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and industry partners.\nContribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.\nStay current with evolving codes, standards, technologies, and industry best practices.\nQualifications & Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or ability to obtain registration.\n8+ years of consulting experience in mechanical building systems design.\nExtensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and building automation systems.\nDemonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects and teams.\nStrong understanding of applicable building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.\nProficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and industry-standard mechanical design software.\nExperience with load calculations, energy modelling, and sustainable building design strategies.\nExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.\nProven ability to manage multiple projects while balancing technical quality, project budgets, and schedules.\nExperience in healthcare, transportation, mission-critical, commercial, institutional, or industrial projects is considered an asset\nWhy Arcadis?\nWe can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
