Senior Rail Drainage Engineer

Role description:

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Rail Drainage Engineer to join our Rail North West & Central Business teams in Yorkshire, Cheshire and Manchester.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects, developing drainage solutions and ensuring high-quality technical outputs are delivered in line with project requirements.

Role Accountabilities:

• Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for rail and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare, review and verify drainage calculations, drawings, reports and technical documentation.
• Develop drainage solutions covering surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage and rail/highways drainage.
• Undertake drainage design and modelling using software such as InfoDrainage and CivilStorm.
• Coordinate drainage design with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support approvals and consents submissions to relevant authorities, including LLFAs and Water Authorities.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Identify and manage design risks, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and Arcadis requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

• BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven drainage design experience within infrastructure projects; rail experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of surface water, foul water, SuDS, earthworks drainage and rail/highways drainage systems.
• Proficiency in drainage design and hydraulic modelling software.
• Ability to prepare and review technical calculations, drawings and reports.
• Understanding of approvals and consents processes involving relevant authorities.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant professional institution is desirable.
