With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.\nRole Description:\nArcadis seeks a Senior Resident Engineer to join the team California to perform a wide variety of professional engineering work in either a field or office setting.\nThe Resident Engineer reviews the progress of the work to ensure compliance with the contract documents. This will include progressive monitoring of materials and methods used as well as inspection of the finished products before acceptance. The RE assures appropriate measurement, payments are made as necessary, and all project documentation is completed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Additionally, the RE is responsible to proactively reviewing the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and/or prepare any change orders needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommend improvements.\nRole Accountabilities:\nEnsures the safety of Construction Management employees, State employees, and Contractor’s employees, as well as the traveling public by observing the contractor’s operations and traffic conditions, making recommendations, and taking corrective action when necessary.\nReview contractor operations for compliance with CAL OSHA regulations.\nProvides directions to staff to ensure complete, accurate, and timely contract records, pertaining to construction progress, job expenditures, budget programs, and work order balances, are maintained in accordance with the State and Federal regulations and laws\nPlans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel\nReviews construction processes and engineering layouts\nReviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues\nOversees materials testing activities\nReviews of daily inspection reports and other project documentation\nAttends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to Arcadis’ Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures\nPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.\nRequired Qualifications:\nA minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).\nAt least 5 years working as a Resident Engineer on Caltrans Highway improvement projects of similar size and complexity\nBachelor’s degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.)\nProfessional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.\nKey Skills and Attributes:\nExperience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager on a State Highway System project of at least $30 million.\nPrior experience with construction/operations on a State Highway\nA demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents\nA working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g. Caltrans)\nEffective oral and written communication skills.\nWhy Arcadis?\nWe can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
