With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.\nRole description:\nAs a Staff Environmental Engineer in either Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH, Minneapolis, MN, or Pittsburgh, PA, you will work alongside scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. You will be involved in a mix of process-mechanical technical work, such as remediation system detailed design, operation and maintenance of systems and project task management, such as coordinating field work conducted out of other offices and managing project schedules and budgets. This role requires a self-starter and leadership attitude and the willingness to train and mentor junior staff.\nRole accountabilities:\nLead (with PM and senior staff guidance) environmental remedial systems and assessments, including preparation of detailed design drawings (process-mechanical, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams), technical specifications, and design calculations (basis of design, pump hydraulic, and gravity flow).\nWillingness to learn and expand skillset: Additional project work may involve process-mechanical support of excavation dewatering design, conveyance design, demolition and supporting infrastructure design, utility isolation and expansion design, and new facility design. \nPrepare startup plans and standard operating procedures with guidance from senior staff.\nCoordinate with various engineering design disciplines to produce cohesive design documents.\nDelegate to junior staff or drafting staff to produce design drawings.\nResearch feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.\nAssist with the development of Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study Reports, this includes the coordination of figure generation, data management, work plans, and/or other required supporting documents.\nCoordinate and participate in field activities which include onsite treatment system startup and engineering oversight during construction. \nCoordinate and oversee the work of subcontractors.\nCoordinate field activities which may include contractor/vendor oversight for site characterization, soil sampling and/or groundwater/remediation well installation and construction, groundwater sampling, and excavation oversight.\nPerform remedial system operation and maintenance (O&M), and monitoring. Assist in preparation of O&M reports.\nParticipating in task management/associate project management tasks such as budgets and change orders.\nParticipating in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies; presentation of results and findings from site investigation and remediation activities.\nTravelling (up to 25%): assisting in the field with construction, startup activities, inspections, conducting pilots and full-scale remedial efforts, and participating in face-to-face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings. \nQualifications & Experience:\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field\nMinimum 5 years of experience \nPreferred Qualifications:\n40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and appropriate annual refresher certifications\nEngineer-In-Training certification or Professional Engineering license \nExperience with AutoCAD or Revit\nWhy Arcadis?\nWe can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
