And yet it runs on technology that hasn't meaningfully changed in fifty years. Until now.\nArc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry. We're rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. And we're already executing. We started with consumers to develop and harden our core technology. We’re now scaling production of our flagship model with new models and sectors on the horizon. Now we’re extending our platform to commercial applications, starting with tugs, ferries, and defense, with years worth of signed contracts and a pipeline that spans every vessel type on the water.\nThe technology is proven, the momentum is building, and the opportunity is enormous. The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it\nWho we’re looking for\nAs Arc's Build Engineer, you will own the transition of our commercial vessels from development to high-rate production. That means developing manufacturing processes and production tooling, driving design decisions that make our vessels easier to build, and optimizing production flow from first article through full rate.\nWe're looking for someone fired up by the mission and ready to build. You'll thrive here if you move fast, take ownership, and care about the details.\nThis is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters.\nWhat You'll Do\nDeveloping production procedures and processes, and managing the transition of parts and assemblies from development to production\nArchitecting the manufacturing system, factory layout, and processes to deliver Arc's next-generation commercial vessels\nReviewing CAD models and providing manufacturing feedback to ensure designs are optimized for high-rate production and on-time delivery\nDesigning production tooling using hand calculations and CAD\nCreating and managing manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specifications\nIntegrating subsystems into full vehicle assemblies, and developing and executing test procedures\nDispositioning rework and repairs during the manufacturing process\nQuestioning assembly and test requirements, deleting parts and processes, simplifying production flow, and cutting in targeted automation\nImplementing linear production flow, visual indicators of bottlenecks and stock-outs, and product-specific build/test cells for low-intervention production\nInterfacing with contractors and suppliers, and partnering with other teams to generate ideas, designs, and improvements for current and next-generation vessels\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, operations engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related engineering discipline\n3+ years of hands-on experience driving design, development, and manufacturing (internships, personal projects, and academic project team experience are applicable)\nWillingness to get hands-on building next-generation boats\nThis is an active role that will require consistent physical activity including lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs including trailering and boarding onto water vessels as needed\nAbility to travel up to 20% of the time\nThis position may require access to information controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be a 'U.S. person' as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62) - i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual (asylee or refugee).\nBonus Qualifications\nExperience in build/test development and on-time delivery of new hardware\nExperience with manufacturing processes, including but not limited to fabrication, welding, machining, or assembly\nExcellent grasp of the fundamentals of Design for Manufacturability\nSolid understanding and application of GD&T\nAnalytical/scientific programming experience (i.e. Python, Matlab, Excel)\nExposure to multiple engineering disciplines and prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting\nLeadership or mentorship experience and the ability to communicate and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization (technicians, engineers, exec team)\nAbility to articulate and defend engineering decisions\nComfortable pushing at a fast but sustainable pace\nEnthusiasm for boating and the water\nAt Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You’re always welcome to reach out even if you don’t meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot.\nWhat we offer\nThe base salary for this role is P2: $125,000 P3: $150,000 annually. \nHighly competitive equity grants are included with full time offers. As well as semi-annual bonuses tied to your impact, not just your tenure.\nAdditionally, Arc offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including:\nHealthcare benefits - 99% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision\nParental leave - 14 weeks fully paid for birthing and non-birthing parents\nGenerous time off - Highly competitive PTO with an opportunity to earn more time with tenure\nIncome protection - Life and disability insurance for all employees\nRetirement savings - Traditional and Roth 401(k) access\nWater fund - $500 for you to spend each year to get out on the water, however you choose\nProfessional development - $500 annual reimbursement for professional development and a monthly AI stipend \nSafety Support -Annual reimbursement for PPE, ergonomic equipment and anything that ensures we keep our crew safe\nCaptain training - Training and access to take Arcboats out with friends and family\nOffice perks - Daily lunches, snacks, and good coffee while onsite\nRelocation assistance - Available depending on role eligibility.\nOur values\nWe move with urgency and build with care. We value these five things above all else:\nOwnership over both your work and the company’s success\nEmpathy for colleagues and for customers\nHumility in problem solving and collaboration\nPragmatism for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly \n Inclusion of different backgrounds, opinions, cultures, and perspectives.\nWe want people who share and embody these values. It is vital that our values align - we’d be happy to elaborate on any or all of these during the interview process.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6411,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Annual bonuses","Equity","Parental leave","Professional development","Relocation assistance"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Marine & Ocean Engineering"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-04T06:55:50Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":9,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.325,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":89,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-19T05:45:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/arcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/arcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-19T16:03:50Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":12127,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-20T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3883863},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3883863"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Farcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Farcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Farcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/arcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Farcboatcompany-build-engineer-commercial"}]}
