To safely run and maintain manufacturing equipment ensure the smooth and continuous running of the production line in order to meet the plant KPI requirements with a product that meets the defined quality criteria. Although the Shift Technician may be asked to assist in other areas of the plant on an ad-hoc basis (on a shift or day shift basis), their normal duties are carried out under the instruction of the Shift Manager/Process Leader in their normal work area.\nThe Shift Technician reports via the appropriate Process Leader to the Shift Manager. The main duties depend upon the area in which the maintainer works i.e.\nFront end Fork truck / Baler\nCupper / Bodymaker / Trimmer\nWasher / Waste treatment\nCoater / Decorator\nInside Spray / Necker /Middle QC\nPalletiser / Depalletiser\nFinished pallet inspection / Testing.\nWarehouse / Back End Fork lift truck\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nTo operate can manufacturing equipment in order to achieve plant KPI targets\nTo maintain the equipment within their area of responsibility in such a condition that quality standards are maintained and downtime is minimized.\nTo carry out the required quality checks within their area of responsibility and to take the necessary corrective actions and report any non-conformities to the Team Leader and the relevant department.\nTo maximise production and minimise spoilage during the manufacturing process.\nTo carry out the necessary safe repairs to equipment as and when required.\nTo carry out the set up checks that may follow maintenance work.\nTo report potential problems to the Shift Manager or relevant Department Heads.\nTo maintain the housekeeping to an exemplary standard and in a safe condition throughout the plant.\nTo maintain safe working practices and comply with any legal environmental and safety requirements and/or checks.\nOn maintenance days, carry out the repairs, preventive maintenance, etc. as directed by the Engineering Department.\nUse of ancillary equipment i.e. fork trucks (following relevant official training) to perform production line or other duties\nTo promote quality improvement and preventative actions by involvement in continuous improvement activities to meet the KPI objectives\nEnsure that proper and safe systems of working and means of avoiding dangerous, or potentially hazardous conditions, are adopted.\nPerforms clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties as and when required or instructed.\nCleaning service facilities after use, i.e. canteen, washroom etc.\nReworking HFI pallets, and re-sampling of HFI pallets\nTo maintain the quality standards as required by the company.\nTo maintain the production requirements of the Plant and minimise spoilage.\nTo have good communications with management and fellow workers, reporting quality defects, unsafe conditions, manufacturing difficulties, ideas for improvements, etc.\nTo work safely at all times and to report unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor immediately.\nTo co-operate with relevant environmental, health & Safety legislation and the companies’ environmental, health & Safety management systems and standards\nCommit to working maintenance days\n\nScope of Position\n\nBudgets Responsible for\n\nNone\n\nContacts within Ardagh\n\nAll factory personnel & Management\n\nContacts outside of the Company\n\nAuditors,customers, contractors\n\nProfessional Requirements\n\nQualifications\n\n5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English\nRecognised Time Served Apprenticeship\nONC / HNC Qualification or equivalent\n\nLanguages\n\nEnglish written and verbal\n\nComputer Skills/literacy\n\nBasic Computer Skills\n\nExperience/Attributes\n\nApprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline.\nWorking knowledge of Health and Safety work practises.\nExperience of preventative and planned maintenance on production equipment.\nHave experience of working on production machinery\nExperience of repairing spare parts for production machinery\nThe ability and willingness to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.\nCan demonstrate the ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.\nA team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work alone under their own initiative.\nThe ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise their work load.\nAbility to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.\nA basic knowledge of quality and hygiene systems would be advantageous.\nPossess an enthusiastic and proactive, goal orientated approach\nMaintains technical knowledge by attending training courses as and when required\nFlexibility or willingness to travel to other locations\n\nCompany Values\n\nTrust is earned by displaying personal attributes that show we are respectful, reliable, consistent and honest in our approach to others.
