Projects may include electrical system design, power distribution, lighting systems, electrical load calculations, equipment selection, fire alarm systems, emergency power systems, and related building and infrastructure improvements. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the design and analysis of electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.\nPrimary Function\nThe Electrical Engineering Intern will work under supervision to support a variety of electrical engineering projects and day-to-day project tasks. Responsibilities may include helping with electrical system layouts, basic calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation, data collection, and site visits. The Intern will gain hands-on experience with engineering and design software, electrical systems, and project design processes while working alongside experienced engineers. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, dependable, and interested in building their technical skills and gaining real-world electrical engineering experience.\nPrimary Duties\nUnder supervision, performs entry-level electrical engineering duties of moderate difficulty, gaining exposure to electrical systems and engineering projects.\nAssists with electrical design tasks, including power distribution, lighting systems, electrical load calculations, equipment selection, and preparation of design documents.\nSupports engineers with project data collection, technical calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation.\nAssists with reviewing electrical drawings, equipment schedules, and project specifications for accuracy and completeness.\nSupports field investigations and site visits to document existing electrical systems and conditions.\nApplies basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electrical systems to contribute to project deliverables.\nGains experience using engineering and design software to assist with electrical system layouts, calculations, drafting, and documentation.\nSupports project teams with various technical and administrative assignments as needed.\nDevelops an understanding of applicable building codes, electrical codes, industry standards, and design practices.\nSpecific activities vary by assignment and project needs.\nEducation and Experience Requirements\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.\nInterest in electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, and building electrical design.\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.\nTeam-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals and independently.\nBasic understanding of electrical engineering principles and building electrical systems.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.\nFamiliarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering/design software is preferred but not required.\nCompensation is based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
