This position will support complex public infrastructure projects, including sewer, landfill, treatment plant, pumping facility, and other water and wastewater improvements. The role will be based primarily out of the Carson field office, with partial remote work available, and will work closely with public agency clients, contractors, consultants, and engineering teams throughout construction.\nPrimary Function:\nThis position will provide construction management and contract administration support for large public infrastructure projects, including sewer rehabilitation, treatment facilities, pumping plants, electrical improvements, and other complex construction assignments. The Project Engineer will oversee construction activities, troubleshoot engineering and construction issues, review contractor documentation, and help ensure projects progress in accordance with contract requirements, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.\nThe ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in the field while also collaborating closely with supervising engineers, contractors, consultants, agency staff, and other project stakeholders. This position requires strong written communication, sound judgment, and the ability to transition effectively between field oversight and office-based construction administration.\nPrimary Duties:\nOversee construction activities and resolve construction and engineering issues.\nReview contractor extra work claims, change proposals, project schedules, and pay estimates.\nTrack project progress and evaluate impacts to District operations.\nCoordinate with District departments, contractors, consultants, and other agencies.\nPrepare monthly project progress reports.\nManage RFIs, change orders, claims, project closeouts, and on-site construction oversight.\nSupport sewer, landfill, treatment plant, pumping facility, and related infrastructure construction projects.\nEducation and Experience Requirements:\nFive (5)+ years of experience in construction management.\nStrong technical writing, communication, analytical, and project management skills.\nPE license preferred, EIT Required\nExperience with cost estimating and scheduling.\nExperience with construction administration for large industrial facilities, advanced processes, and treatment facilities.\nExperience with electrical power distribution improvements, pumping plant replacement, and sewer construction or rehabilitation, including slip lining and CIPP.\nExperience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, and/or Procore.\nExperience working with the public and managing construction-related complaints.\nAbility to troubleshoot complex construction issues and transition between office-based contract administration and field construction oversight.\nAbility to support night and weekend construction activities as needed.\nCompensation and Benefits:\nCompensation is based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 annually.
