You’ll assist with tasks such as preparing drawings and calculations, reviewing plans, and supporting structural projects from start to finish. This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and build your skills in a real-world engineering environment.\nPrimary Function:\nUnder moderate supervision, the Structural Engineering Intern supports the engineering team with a variety of structural engineering projects and tasks. The Intern will gain hands-on experience with structural design, calculations, drawings, field observations, and project documentation. The Intern will work alongside experienced engineers and develop an understanding of the structural design and construction process. The Intern is expected to demonstrate growing technical skills, initiative, attention to detail, and reliability in supporting project teams.\nPrimary Duties:\nUnder supervision, performs entry-level structural engineering tasks while gaining exposure to a variety of building and structural projects.\nAssists with structural design and analysis for building structures and other structural systems.\nSupports engineers with basic engineering calculations, load calculations, design checks, reports, specifications, and other project documentation.\nAssists with preparing structural drawings, details, plans, sections, and other design documents.\nAssists with reviewing structural drawings, plans, specifications, and project documents for accuracy and completeness.\nSupports field investigations and site visits to document existing structural conditions and assist with field observations.\nAssists engineers with evaluating existing structures and documenting structural conditions.\nApplies basic knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials, and design concepts to contribute to project deliverables.\nGains experience using engineering and design software to assist with drafting, modeling, calculations, and preparation of project documents.\nSupports project teams with coordination between structural, architectural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.\nAssists with project research and develops an understanding of applicable building codes, design standards, and structural engineering practices.\nGains exposure to the structural project process, including planning, design, permitting, construction documentation, and construction support.\nSupports project teams with various technical and administrative assignments as needed.\nSpecific activities vary by assignment and project needs.\nEducation and Experience Requirements:\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering field.\nInterest in structural engineering, building design, and the construction industry.\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.\nTeam-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with a team of professionals and independently.\nBasic understanding of structural engineering principles, building systems, structural materials, and/or engineering mechanics.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, RISA, RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, or other engineering/design software is preferred but not required.\nCompensation is based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
