We leverage interdisciplinary expertise and an integrated structure to deliver practical, innovative solutions that make a positive impact on the communities we serve.\nPrimary Function:\nThe Subsurface Utility Field Technician II locates, identifies, and documents underground utilities to support safe construction and excavation activities. Using tools such as GPS, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), smoke testing equipment, and manual methods, the Technician gathers accurate field data and prepares utility records. Working independently in diverse conditions, this role supports project teams by ensuring utilities are properly located, marked, and reported, while maintaining close coordination with supervisors, engineers, and construction crews.\nPrimary Duties:\nCompletes standard and semi-routine tasks with growing independence, applying established procedures and seeking guidance for unfamiliar or more complex issues.\nPerforms utility locating services in accordance with ASCE Standards for Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.\nCreates accurate maps and diagrams of underground utilities to guide construction activities.\nWorks independently under all weather conditions and in all types of physical environments to provide field inspection services.\nProvides accurate readings and reports to communicate findings to a non-technical audience.\nWorks closely with the SUE Superintendent, engineers, surveyors, and construction crews to ensure that utility locations are clearly marked and avoided during excavation.\nCommunicates effectively, collaborates with team members, and occasionally assists or shares knowledge with less experienced staff.\nDemonstrates reliability and accountability by managing assigned responsibilities with general supervision.\nAssumes additional responsibilities as needed to support team and organizational goals.\nCandidates should be physically able to lift and carry the required testing and inspection equipment and tools (up to 50lbs), to open manholes (up to 120lbs) and to traverse difficult terrain.\nExperience and Education Requirements\nHigh school diploma required\n2+ year of utility location experience required\nKnowledge of subsurface utility inspection methods and locating technologies, including GPS, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and smoke testing equipment, with the ability to interpret field conditions and accurately document findings.\nSkilled in performing fieldwork independently in varying weather and environmental conditions, using both technology and manual tools to identify, map, and mark underground utilities while ensuring safety and accuracy.\nEffective communication skills to convey technical information clearly, including preparing accurate reports, maps, and diagrams for use by engineers, surveyors, construction teams, and non-technical stakeholders.\nKnowledge of performance standards and feedback techniques, with the ability to take ownership of actions, hold self and others accountable, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high expectations for quality and outcomes.\nKnowledge of change management strategies and prioritization methods, with the ability to remain flexible, adjust quickly to changing conditions, stay optimistic, and apply clear, solution- focused thinking in dynamic or uncertain situations.\nSkilled in active listening, persuasive communication, and audience-centered messaging, with the ability to plan proactively, manage competing priorities, and continuously pursue learning and professional development.\nAbility to life upwards of 50lbs on a regular basis\nValid US drivers license and form of reliable transportation\nWhy Ardurra?\nWhile Ardurra offers competitive compensation and rich benefits programs, it is our culture that truly sets us apart from our peers.
