The Sr. Software Engineer shall be able to\ncreate vehicle level designs and provide feedback on System\nRequirements. Will lead the implementation and integration of embedded\nsoftware written in C/C++, Matlab autogenerated.\nYOUR IMPACT:\n- Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of\nmoderate complexity on time.\n- May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.\n- May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.\n- Performs more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and\ntasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry,\nengineering standards and processes.\n- Responsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs,\ncomputation methods, and/or reporting.\n- Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support\ndisciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.\n- May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry\norganizations.\n- Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on\ncommon projects.\n- Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and\nprocedures - best practices, etc.\n- Conduct independent research and development on new technologies and\nestablish requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans,\nand milestones) according to the needs of a project related to\nreal-time operating system (RTOS), Autosar, embedded systems,\nopen-source tools, Internet of Things (IOT), edge computing and\narchitecture virtualization.\n- Carry out the technical aspects of advanced vehicle system controls\nresearch and development in the aspect of implementation using\nembedded software tools, version control and configuration\nmanagement, verification and validation, DevOps and CI/CD\nsoftware.\n- Work with internal and external project teams on advanced control\ndevelopment efforts independently with minimum supervision using\nembedded software and model-based development tool suites.\n- Assist developing or integrating control strategies and\nimplementation in a virtual simulation environment using modeling\ntools (such as AMESIM, Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow etc.) or\nhardware-in-the-loop simulators and transferring simulated\nstrategies to vehicle testing and eventual production\nimplementation.\n- Lead or direct feasibility studies and project estimates (manpower,\nbudget development, and timelines etc.) on proposed\nprojects.\n- Lead or direct proposal development with regards to acquiring\nappropriate funding for various advanced control development\nefforts.\n- Provide insight to engineering design teams and mentoring to low\nlevel engineers as needed based on expertise.\n- Design, implement and document real-time embedded software written\nin C/C++, Matlab autogenerated.\n- Support supervisor, engineers, and other departments to execute job\nassignments.\n- Responsible for the design and implementation of software to meet\nvarious requirements which include: functionality, memory\nutilization, performance and maintainability.\n- Read and create software designs in UML.\n- Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot and production\nsoftware.\n- Follow good software practices including the use of version control,\nchange control and issue tracking software.\n- Follow a CMMI level 3 process as part of developing software.\n- Provide support to programs to include travel to off-site locations\nas necessary to accomplish assigned engineering tasks.\n- Participate in project time estimation, technical proposals and\ndecision analysis.\n- Other duties as assigned.\n- Regular attendance is required.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\n- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with\nfive (5) or more years of related experience.\nSTANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:\n- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or\nElectrical Engineering.\n- Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON, Python, and SQL database in\naddition to embedded C/C++.\nCORE COMPETENCIES:\n- Internal Contacts: Contact with peers and others involving\nexplanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside\ndepartment or division), and the gathering of factual information;\nmay include the communication of sensitive or confidential\ninformation.\n- External Contacts: Limited external contact to gather information,\nanswer queries, or ask assistance.\n- Communication Skills: Read, write and comprehend simple\ninstructions, short correspondence and memos; Read and interpret\nsafety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure\nmanuals; Write routine reports, correspondence and speak effectively\nbefore both internal and external groups; Read, analyze and\ninterpret business manuals, technical procedures and/or government\nregulations: Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical\njournals, financial reports and legal documents.\n- Decision-Making: Regularly makes significant decisions and final\nresults, typically affecting the entire department.
