Through our recruitment, career development and employee-focused programming, we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive work environment where high-performance talent of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives can build careers within this exciting and growing industry.\nJob Description\nPrimary functions & responsibilities\nData Engineering & Platform Leadership\nLead the Client Platform Data Engineering function, responsible for ingestion, transformation, modeling, orchestration, storage and delivery of Ares’ Client data\nHave primary accountability for aligning to Ares’ data governance standards including modeling, lineage, data quality, and data protection standards\nOwn the design and operation of enterprise data lakes and Lakehouse architectures, supporting client use cases.\nApply best-in-class engineering standards for data pipelines, CI/CD, testing, and data quality assurance\nArchitecture & Engineering Excellence\nPartner with the Data and AI organization to define and apply data reference architectures\nPartner with Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Security, and Architecture teams to ensure scalability, resiliency, data privacy and regulatory compliance.\nPromote modern engineering practices including DevOps, Automated testing and data quality assurance\nEnsure platforms meet enterprise requirements for security, auditability, privacy, and regulatory controls.\nExecution, Delivery & Operations\nOwn end-to-end engineering delivery, from roadmap execution through production operations.\nEstablish delivery metrics (velocity, reliability, cost efficiency, platform adoption).\nLead vendor selection and management for data related tooling.\nEnsure platform stability, uptime, and support for mission-critical investment and client workflows.\nLeadership & Talent Development\nBuild and lead a high-performing engineering team.\nDevelop leaders and succession pipelines.\nFoster a strong engineering culture focused on quality, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.\nQualifications\nExperience & Background\n12+ years of progressive technology experience, with significant leadership experience in data architecture, design and delivery\nProven experience building and operating enterprise-scale data platforms, ideally in asset management, alternatives, banking, or similarly complex regulated environments.\nDemonstrated success leading teams\nStrong track record partnering with senior business and technology leaders\nTechnical Expertise\nDeep hands-on understanding of:\nCloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP experience welcome)\nDatabricks, Lakehouse architecture, and modern data stacks\nSalesforce data modeling\nData Modelling, including lineage and transformation\nData quality assurance\nExperience integrating commercial AI tools with proprietary data preferred\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.\nEngineering or Computer Science background strongly preferred.\nReporting Relationships\nManaging Director, Head of Client PlatformsThere is no set deadline to apply for this job opportunity.
