We have ambitious plans to grow the business and enter new markets.\nThe Development Engineer is a strategic role that requires co-operation with multiple stakeholders within the company but also externally. It requires creativity in spotting opportunities to optimise current processes, in introducing new ones and identifying and developing new and improved product offering to help future proof the company’s position on the market.\nMain purpose of the role\nThe Development Engineer is responsible for developing, together with the whole Corporate Development and Innovation Team, a pipeline of innovative improvement projects for our existing plants, new product and technology options compatible with Argent’s strategy, as well as options for strategic growth projects.\nYour main responsibilities will be:\nPerform in depth due diligence (together with more senior team members) of various novel technologies and conversion processes to assess their commercial and strategic viability for Argent’s growth and investment.\n\nTalk to potential research, development and technology partners obtain a robust understanding of their potential synergies with Argent and present recommendations on which ones to take forward for further cooperation.\n\nProvide support to Development projects through to FID (Final Investment Decision) and, if also required until implementation , to ensure their timely & effective realisation.\n\nWork with the Operations Teams of Argent’s plants to create improvement opportunities and assess their implementation feasibility and benefits\n\nWork on new products offering and improvements to our current portfolio: in terms of economics, quality, efficiency and sustainability.\n\nYour key relationships will be:\nInternal\nOperations: need to well understand internal plant capabilities\n\nSustainability: understanding the rules and GHG saving calculations\n\nFinance: need to well understand Argent’s OPEX and investment return criteria\n\nExternal\nExternal technology providers, users of new products\n\nRequirements\nSkills and behaviours you will need to be successful:\nUnderstanding of the different biofuels processes and their requirements (desirable)\n\nAdvanced knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint\n\nUnderstanding of the different biofuels processes and their requirements (desirable)\n\nUnderstanding of a basic P&L and investment returns for existing or proposed projects\n\nThinking outside-of-the-box\n\nDrive and willingness to go the extra mile\n\nHands-on approach to work and projects\n\nCreative in finding solutions to challenges\n\nAble to easily talk to various types of people within or outside the organisation\n\nComfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations\n\nExperience and qualifications required:\nMaster of Engineering degree\n\nStrong analytical skills, experience dealing with numbers on financial and technical levels\n\nOperational experience either operating or designing production plants, ideally in the biofuels sector\n\nWhat we offer\nOpportunity to be part of a dynamic and highly motivating team.\n\nFulltime role based at our facility in Amsterdam.\n\nGood primary and secondary employment conditions.\n\nA bonus scheme based on stated business results.\n\nWorking to an sustainable future with 300 passioned colleagues and lots of room for personal development.\n\nNext steps\nInterested?
