The successful candidate will work on a project focused on integrating selective heating with continuous hydrometallurgical processing, for recovery of critical materials relevant to energy innovation.\nThe postdoctoral researcher will design and conduct experiments, develop slurry-based processing methodologies, support construction and operation of bench-scale systems, analyze transport and reaction behavior, and contribute to reports, publications, and future proposals. This position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team at the Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF), in collaboration with Argonne researchers and external partners from industry and academia.\nPosition Requirements\nRecent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (typically completed within the last 0-5 years) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or related field.\nKnowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas: hydrometallurgical chemistry, critical materials recovery, separations science, heating technologies.\nExperience with analytical tools such as X-ray diffraction, SEM/TEM, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy.\nAbility to conduct both independent and collaborative research in a multidisciplinary environment\nAbility to communicate effectively and on a timely basis with the laboratory supervisory personnel on all developments or matters resulting from laboratory work activities.\nAbility to maintain organized notebooks and project files.\nProven ability to be an excellent team player.\nA high commitment to safety.\nAbility to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.\nThis position requires an on-site presence at the Argonne campus in Lemont, Illinois, five days per week.\nJob Family\nPostdoctoralJob Profile\nPostdoctoral AppointeeWorker Type\nLong-Term (Fixed Term)Time Type\nFull timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $72,879.00-$121,465.00.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only.
