At Arista, we take pride in our track record of success and strive to maintain the highest standards of quality and performance in everything we do.\n Who You’ll Work With\nIn each project you will work with a cross functional team to ensure that the end solution is brought to market quickly and meets our customer's needs.\nThe total estimated annual compensation range for this position, inclusive of base salary, bonus, and equity, is $220,000-$400,000. This range is a good faith estimate only. Bonus and equity are discretionary, subject to plan terms, and are not guaranteed components of total compensation. Actual total annual compensation may vary based on employee performance, company or equity performance, company policy, board approval, or similar factors. Please see additional base salary information below.\nWhat You’ll Do\nThis position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and is responsible for the mechanical design and validation of the next module or the next chassis that we bring to market. Arista produces switches with a high number of ports per rack unit. This creates challenges in mechanical design. You will be faced with the usual requirements like structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, documentation, conforming to a family of existing products, and tight schedules. In each project you will work with a cross functional team to ensure that the end solution is brought to market quickly and meets our customers’ needs.\nExplore solutions suggested by team members and add new solutions that blend all requirements.\nImplement the selected design using Creo 3D CAD and provide all the necessary drawings, critical to function dimensions and 3D files to allow the design to be prototyped and manufactured.\nSchedule and manage peer and cross functional team reviews of your design.\nStructure bill of materials (BOM), release and change the product using product lifecycle management tools (Agile).\nProvide 3D models to be used in thermal simulations.\nDesign heat sinks using input from thermal simulations and create the drawings and 3D files necessary to prototype and manufacture the parts.\nManage or perform air flow and thermal testing to support thermal simulations\nProvide PCB design drawings and 3D files to the ECAD design team. Work with the electrical engineer and PCB layout to address placement concerns. Check the final design of the PCB.\nWork with CMs to address DFM concerns.\nWork in the lab to check the prototypes against the 3D MCAD design and debug issues.\nCommunicate and address manufacturing issues found in the lab to the CM.\nTrack the testing performed at outside labs on your design to capture any additional changes needed.\nParticipate in cross-functional team meetings to resolve production sustaining issues.\nSome travel to Asia and in North America is required.\n BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering\nRelevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers is preferred.\nExperience designing sheetmetal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.\nExperience designing plastic parts for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.\nExperience using PTC Creo a plus.\nExperience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate) a plus.\nExperience with thermal simulation and/or air flow testing a plus.\nExperience with liquid cooling systems a plus.\nFamiliarity with PTC Windchill a plus.\nGood verbal and written communication skills.\nCompensation Information\nThe new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $120,000 to $180,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
