This role offers an exciting opportunity to work cross-functionally, optimize material availability, and support a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Purchasing Management & Negotiation\nSource, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for assigned commodities, including steel, packaging, brass, aluminum, stamping, laser-cut components, machined parts, and critical engineered components.\nNegotiate pricing, payment terms, quality standards, and delivery schedules using Cost Breakdown Analysis (CBD) as the primary methodology.\nManage significant annual spend volumes (approximately USD $3-5M, depending on role scope) with clear accountability for budget variances.\nIdentify, quantify, and implement cost reduction initiatives, targeting annual savings of 3-5%.\n2. Analysis & Strategic Sourcing\nMonitor commodity markets and pricing trends, including LME, COMEX, and relevant market intelligence, to forecast cost impacts and support negotiations with data-driven insights.\nTrack Planned Price Variance (PPV) against actual performance and prepare executive reports on variances.\nConduct supplier benchmarking, multi-source quotation analysis, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluations.\nPartner with Planning and Finance teams on demand forecasting and annual budgeting cycles (STD/Budget).\n3. Supplier Management\nBuild and maintain strategic relationships with critical and high-risk suppliers, proactively escalating and resolving issues.\nSupport supplier quality assessments (QAA) and basic supplier audits.\nNegotiate complex commercial terms, including prepayment vs. COD arrangements, warranties, lead times, and special purchasing conditions.\n4. Systems & Tools\nUtilize SAP MM for purchase order creation and maintenance, goods receipt tracking, and variance management.\nLeverage advanced Excel capabilities for data analysis, forecasting, dashboards, pivot tables, and complex formulas.\nAccess and analyze commodity market data and pricing intelligence platforms.\nRequired Qualifications & Competencies\nExperience: Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing and direct materials procurement.\nAt least 3 years of experience managing commodity categories.\nAdvanced negotiation and CBD skills, with demonstrated success in supplier negotiations and documented cost savings.\nIntermediate to Advanced SAP MM knowledge, including purchase orders, goods receipt processes, and change management.\nIntermediate commodity and pricing analysis skills, including market index interpretation and quantitative cost justification.\nIntermediate to Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools. Power Query experience is preferred.\nBusiness-fluent English, with the ability to communicate effectively with international suppliers and stakeholders.\nAdvanced conflict resolution skills, particularly in supplier performance, quality, and delivery-related situations.\nStrong ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse commodities, urgent requirements, and tight deadlines.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in the automotive, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing industries.\nExperience with sourcing platforms such as Coupa, Ariba, or similar systems.\nProfessional certifications such as APICS, SCMP, CPSM, or equivalent.\nExperience managing both domestic and international suppliers, with a solid understanding of regional logistics and supply chain operations.\nWe are committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all people.
