For more than twenty years after our founder, Dr. Patrick Walker, wrote his goals on the back of a napkin, our people, culture, and values have remained strong.\nAbout the position: As a Laboratory Technician in Training in the Electron Microscopy department, you will train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.\nWhat you'll do: \nClinical Duties\nResponsible for becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:\nAssess tissue adequacy for testing\nPerform quality control checks on materials produced\nComplete equipment maintenance and logs\nDevelop problem-solving skills-determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action\nControlling operations of equipment and systems\nMonitor and assess performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action\nAssist in Lab for other duties as assigned\nPractice safe work procedures while performing job duties\nPeriodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits\nAdministrative Duties\nAssist in Accessioning\nMaintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets\nRequirements\nAll SOPs must be followed\nAny discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead\nLaboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained\nYou should have: \nEducation: Bachelor’s or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry Certification eligible\nExperience: Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills. Prefer 2 years of lab experience but not required\nComputer Skills: Proficient in MS Word\nOther Requirements: Eligible to sit for the National HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employment\nSchedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:30pm\nWhat we offer: We know that health is more than doctor visits and life is more than work.
