Incomplete applications will not be considered.\nThe Equipment Bureau of Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking a Warehouse Technician to join our team!\nThe Equipment Bureau maintains all County and Arlington Public Schools vehicular equipment across six automotive repair sections: Light Equipment Repairs, School Bus Repairs, Fire & Engineering Equipment Repairs, Heavy Truck Repairs, Evening Light Vehicle Maintenance, and Evening Heavy Truck Maintenance.\nThe selected candidate will be an integral member of a team responsible for maintaining manual and automated inventory systems within the warehouse. Key responsibilities include coordinating the ordering, receiving, and distribution of parts and materials including ensuring the safe and efficient storage and maintenance of warehouse item inventory.\n Major Job Duties:\nReceiving, distributing, and recording of parts and materials requested by technicians;\nResearching and responding to inquiries related to warehouse inventory levels;\nUsing an Asset Management System (AMS) to build, download and manage warehouse inventory data reports;\nUsing Microsoft Office Word to create correspondence and/or reports;\nTracking purchasing requests for promptness and accuracy;\nMaintaining security of warehouse assets and cleanliness/organization of warehouse;\nCoordinating receipt, storage and customer notification of materials and equipment delivered to the warehouse;\nAssisting with the loading and unloading of warehouse supplies with forklift;\nReviewing financial documents and packing slips for accuracy regarding warehouse invoices; and\nPerforming other job-related duties as assigned.\nThe ideal candidate will have:\nAn automotive industry background paired with proven experience leading the work of others;\nAbility to communicate effectively across shop supervisors, customers, and vendors; and\nDemonstrated experience balancing competing priorities across multiple shops and responding to seasonal and emergency demands.\n Minimum Qualifications:\nLess than that required for completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or obtaining a GED certificate; and\nSome experience related to warehouse operations: including receiving, storing, issuing, and buying supplies/tools, materials, parts and equipment and maintaining the associated records systems.\nDesirable Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:\nPurchasing or warehouse management experience in an automotive or large car dealership environment;\nHandling of purchases or inventory of a variety of parts and equipment from small engine to heavy truck or heavy duty parts;\nInteracting with vendors for availability and requests for parts and/or equipment;\nUsing Asset Management Systems, digital inventory supplies, or automated financial systems; and/or\nOperating a forklift in a warehouse environment and/or possession of forklift certificate.\nSpecial Requirements\nBackground Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.\nDriver's License: Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver’s license, and must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of official driving record.
