Experience with frontend technologies is beneficial but not essential.\nThe successful candidate should also be comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools, reviewing both human-written and AI-generated code, and contributing to technical discussions around architecture and system design.\nResponsibilities\nBackend Development\nDesign, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript and modern backend frameworks such as Express.js or similar.\nDesign and implement RESTful APIs and service integrations.\nDevelop maintainable, well-tested and performant code following engineering best practices.\nDesign data models and work with relational and NoSQL databases where appropriate.\nImprove application reliability, observability and performance through monitoring, logging and optimisation.\nSoftware Engineering & Code Quality\nWrite clean, maintainable and well-documented code following established coding standards.\nPerform thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.\nReview and validate AI-generated code, ensuring correctness, maintainability, security and adherence to engineering standards.\nContribute to improving development workflows, automation and engineering best practices.\nSystem Design & Collaboration\nParticipate in technical design discussions and contribute to system architecture decisions.\nTranslate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nCollaborate closely with frontend developers, product owners and other engineers to deliver high-quality software.\nContribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.\nAI & Engineering Productivity\nLeverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.\nEvaluate the suitability of AI-generated implementations and identify potential issues or improvements.\nStay current with emerging AI development tooling and software engineering practices.\nRequired Skills & Experience\nStrong proficiency in Node.js development using TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).\nExperience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and backend services.\nStrong understanding of software engineering principles, clean code practices and maintainable application architecture.\nExperience reviewing and improving code written by other engineers.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted software development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar, and the ability to critically assess AI-generated code.\nSolid understanding of software architecture and system design concepts.\nExperience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.\nFamiliarity with version control systems (Git) and modern development workflows.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.\nNice to Have\nExperience with Python for scripting, automation or backend services.\nExperience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure or GCP.\nKnowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nExperience with testing frameworks and automated testing strategies.\nExperience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.\nPrior experience developing internal engineering tools or finance-related software products.\nOur 10x Mindset\nAt Arm, we believe progress happens when people are empowered to think bigger and push beyond what seems possible.
