This diverse, engineering-focused team defines, designs, and builds Arm microprocessor IP.\nJob Description\nWe are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to help develop, operate, and evolve the engineering infrastructure used to design and verify Arm’s high-performance CPUs.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of software engineering, hardware verification, and high-performance computing (HPC). You will work closely with CPU design and verification engineers to improve the infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable large-scale hardware development.\nResponsibilities\nYou will contribute to the development and operation of infrastructure supporting CPU design and verification, including:\nDesign, develop, and test - Applying sound software engineering practices, including code review, automated testing, documentation, version control, and maintainable software architecture\nSoftware used to automate CPU development and verification workflows through direct interactions with CPU design and verification engineers\nTools and automation for submitting, managing, monitoring, and analyzing distributed compute workloads\nObservability of engineering infrastructure through metrics, logging, dashboards, alerting, and automated diagnostics\nImprove CI and regression infrastructure used by hardware design and verification teams\nIntegrations between source control, CI systems, verification tools, workload schedulers, and engineering services\nDebug, investigate, and diagnose\nIdentify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve compute utilization, verification throughput, and turnaround time\nSolve complex problems that cross boundaries between software, hardware verification tools, operating systems, compute infrastructure, and storage\nSupporting large-scale verification workloads running across HPC compute farms\nContribute to technical direction and engineering improvements within the wider CPU development environment.\nRequired Skills and Qualifications\nYou will need:\nRobust software engineering background\nRecord of delivering production quality software or engineering infrastructure\nStrong understanding of software engineering principles: API design, testing, debugging, source control, code review, and maintainability\nHigh-performance or large-scale compute environments\nManagement and monitoring of distributed workloads\nDiagnosis of system and application issues using logs, metrics, profiling, tracing, or other observability techniques\nHardware design and verification flows\nUnderstanding of concepts such as simulation, regression testing, test execution, results consolidation, and failure analysis\nExpertise in at least one of these languages: Python, Ruby. Shell scripting experience is strongly preferred.\nExperience with Linux systems\nSolid understanding of CI/CD or other automated build, test, and regression systems\nProven track record of strong problem solving skills across multiple components within a complex engineering environment\nStrong communication and collaboration skills to bridge diverse development communities: software engineers, hardware designers, verification engineers, infrastructure teams\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:\nCPU, SoC, ASIC, or other semiconductor design and verification environments\nKnowledge of SystemVerilog\nHardware simulation, emulation, formal verification, regression management tools\nAnalysis of large volumes of verification and regression data\nProduct release and maintenance\nPackaging and release of hardware products\nAutomated packaging and testing flow development\nInternal and external standards' compliance, e.g. IP-XACT\nHigh performance compute workload management: IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, or similar systems\nJenkins or other continuous integration orchestration systems\nLinux system programming, process management, resource accounting, and performance analysis\nContainerized development and execution environments\nNetworked storage\nWhat Success Looks Like\nIn this role, you will become a trusted engineering contributor to the CPU development environment. You will understand both the software infrastructure and the verification workflows it supports, allowing you to identify problems that are difficult to see from either perspective alone.\nYour work will help engineers run verification more efficiently, diagnose failures more quickly, make better use of compute resources, and spend less time dealing with infrastructure.
