Within this group, the Engineering Platform Services function provides tooling used across the company’s engineering population, as well as focusing on the tooling needs of software engineers.\nOur roadmap focuses on developing scalable platform services and self-service capabilities that simplify engineering workflows and improve developer productivity.\nAs a Staff Engineer at Arm, you will own technical deliveries, with responsibility from requirements through to planning, implementation, and delivery. You will provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in software design, development, testing, deployment, and operation.\nYou will participate in production support and our paid on-call rota for high impact incident response.\nAt the heart of our approach is a genuine passion for improving the lives of other Engineers at Arm, and a complete focus on delivering solutions aligned to business outcomes.\nResponsibilities:\nWorking hands-on with a variety of technologies, to provide a first-class engineering experience for Arm's hardware and software engineers. The domains and areas include:\nDesign, develop, test, and operate APIs and platform services.\nBuild Kubernetes operators and automation that enable self-service engineering workflows.\nDeploy and operate reliable, secure, and scalable workloads.\nUse Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure.\nIntegrate with engineering platforms and tools such as GitLab, Backstage, and Artifactory.\nApply strong software engineering practices, including automated testing, code review, observability, and secure development.\nLead major engineering initiatives and collaborate with engineering teams across Arm.\nOur varied activities involve development, and operational work. We support and guide the engineering community on how best to utilise the services we offer. Developments range from minor improvements to multi-month strategic projects. We invest significant time collaborating with other engineering teams at Arm.\nRequired Skills and Experience:\nExtensive knowledge of cloud services, with experience running production workloads in AWS or another major cloud platform.\nStrong software engineering experience using Go, Python, or similar languages.\nExperience designing, developing, testing, and operating APIs and backend services.\nPractical knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD and CI/CD technologies.\nUnderstanding of software engineering practices, including automated testing, code review, observability, and secure development.\nAbility to lead technical projects and communicate engineering decisions clearly.\n“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:\nExperience developing Kubernetes operators or controllers.\nKnowledge of GitLab internals, administration, APIs, and integrations.\nFamiliarity with software supply-chain security and SAST tooling.\nUnderstanding of Site Reliability Engineering, incident management, and production support!\nIn Return:\nWe will provide the training and environment to excel in this role.
