Named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and to the CNBC Disruptor 50, Armada’s solutions are deployed in over 60 countries globally for organizations ranging from energy to defense. \nWith nearly $500 million in funding to date, Armada is backed by leading investors including Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock and Microsoft (M12), alongside strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio. We are building the infrastructure layer for sovereign and edge AI - rugged, deployable compute for customers that cannot rely on centralized cloud.\nWorking at Armada means taking ownership, driving autonomy, and delivering impact. You’ll tackle challenges that haven’t been solved before and help build something transformative from the ground up. What you do here will not only define your career but help further Armada’s mission to bridge the digital divide for customers around the world. \nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a highly experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Edge Platform team. This role combines systems engineering, software development, and cloud-native infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating the software and platform capabilities that power our distributed edge computing infrastructure across Galleon mobile data centers and Commander cloud services.\nYou will work extensively with Linux, Kubernetes, distributed systems, networking, and automation while developing platform components and operational tooling in Go and Python. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable debugging kernel-level performance issues, writing production-quality software, and designing resilient cloud-native platforms.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role focused on building platform capabilities rather than solely operating infrastructure.\nWhat You'll Do\nPlatform Engineering & Software Development\nDesign, develop, and maintain platform services, controllers, operators, and automation frameworks using Go and Python.\nBuild internal tools and APIs that simplify provisioning, lifecycle management, observability, and operations of edge infrastructure.\nDevelop software to automate infrastructure workflows, hardware lifecycle management, cluster operations, and fleet-wide orchestration.\nContribute to platform architecture, technical standards, and engineering best practices.\nDesign and implement self-healing and autonomous operational capabilities.\nLinux Systems Engineering\nDebug and optimize Linux systems across compute, storage, networking, and container workloads.\nInvestigate complex performance issues involving CPU scheduling, memory management, I/O subsystems, networking, filesystems, and containers.\nAnalyze kernel and userspace behavior using tools such as perf, eBPF, strace, tcpdump, bpftrace, and system profiling utilities.\nDrive platform reliability through deep understanding of Linux internals and operating system behavior.\nParticipate in root cause analysis of production incidents involving operating systems, containers, and distributed systems.\nKubernetes & Cloud Platform\nArchitect, deploy, and manage highly available Kubernetes environments across edge and cloud infrastructure.\nBuild and maintain Kubernetes operators, controllers, CRDs, admission webhooks, and platform extensions.\nImplement scalable networking, storage, security, and observability solutions for Kubernetes.\nOptimize cluster performance, resource utilization, and workload scheduling in resource-constrained edge environments.\nDrive Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and GitOps methodologies.\nReliability & Operations\nDesign and maintain observability platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and centralized logging solutions.\nEstablish operational excellence through automation, monitoring, incident response, and postmortem processes.\nCollaborate with software, infrastructure, security, and product teams to deliver reliable platform capabilities.\nParticipate in on-call rotations and continuously improve operational maturity through automation.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\n7+ years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure software, or related fields.\nStrong software development experience in Go and/or Python, including building production services and automation systems.\nDeep understanding of Linux operating systems and systems internals.\nStrong understanding of:Linux process management, scheduling, memory management, filesystems, and networking\nTCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, load balancing, and distributed systems fundamentals\nContainers and container runtimes\n\nDeep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and operations.\nHands-on experience building and operating production Kubernetes environments.\nExperience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across software, operating systems, networking, and infrastructure.\nPreferred Qualifications\nStrong experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Controllers, CRDs, or platform extensions.\nExperience with virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU, libvirt).\nExperience with edge computing platforms and resource-constrained environments.\nExperience with GitOps and CI/CD platforms such as ArgoCD, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.\nWhat Makes Someone Successful in This Role\nStrong systems thinker with deep Linux expertise.\nComfortable reading source code, debugging complex distributed systems, and automating operational workflows.\nAble to move seamlessly between software development, infrastructure engineering, and production operations.\nPassionate about reliability, performance, automation, and platform engineering.\nYou're a Great Fit if You're\nA go-getter with a growth mindset. You're intellectually curious, have strong business acumen, and actively seek opportunities to build relevant skills and knowledge \nA detail-oriented problem-solver. You can independently gather information, solve problems efficiently, and deliver results with a \"get-it-done\" attitude \nThrive in a fast-paced environment. You're energized by an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of working quickly, and excited to contribute to a growing company\nA collaborative team player. You focus on business success and are motivated by team accomplishment vs personal agenda \nHighly organized and results-driven. Strong prioritization skills and a dedicated work ethic are essential for you \nEqual Opportunity Statement\nAt Armada, we are committed to fostering a work environment where everyone is given equal opportunities to thrive. As an equal opportunity employer, we strictly prohibit discrimination or harassment based on race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by law. This policy applies to all employment decisions, including hiring, promotions, and compensation. Our hiring is guided by qualifications, merit, and the business needs at the time.\nUnsolicited Resumes and Candidates\nArmada does not accept unsolicited resumes or candidate submissions from external agencies or recruiters. All candidates must apply directly through our careers page. Any resumes submitted by agencies without a prior signed agreement will be considered unsolicited and Armada will not be obligated to pay any fees.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7628,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Venture Capital","Family Offices"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2025-04-06T04:13:59Z"}],"liveness":{"score":8,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.304,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":542,"expected_fill_days":56,"reasons":["conf:3","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-09-30T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/armada-sr-software-engineer-kubernetes","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/armada-sr-software-engineer-kubernetes.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T04:10:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3359,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":1641,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
