Period.\nRequirements\nAbout this role\nYou are the engineer in the field.\nAs a Forward Deployed Engineer, you travel with our Business Development team to field trials, user evaluations, and NCNC (No Cost, No Commitment) demonstrations across India. On the ground, the system is yours from setup to operation to troubleshooting, and you are the person who talks technology with the user. You are also the link between what users experience in the field and what our engineering team builds next.\nWhat you'll do\nPrepare, pack, check, and deploy systems for trials and demonstrations, following pre-deployment, on-site, and post-trial checklists\n\nSet up and run equipment in demanding field conditions, from deserts and high altitude to coastal areas, heat, cold and dust\n\nDiagnose and resolve issues on site across hardware (power, cabling, connectors, RF chain), embedded Linux, networking and application software\n\nEscalate to the remote engineering team with clarity: precise symptoms, logs, photos and what you've already ruled out\n\nRun live demonstrations and explain how the system works, what it can do and where its limits lie, to audiences ranging from operators and JCOs to senior officers\n\nAnswer tough or skeptical technical questions calmly and honestly, without overpromising\n\nCapture trial data, observations, user feedback and incidents in structured trial reports\n\nBring field learnings back to R&D as bugs, feature requests and usability feedback\n\nSupport BD with technical input for trial directives, compliance matrices and user queries\n\nTrain user personnel on operation and basic maintenance where needed\n\nWhat we're looking for\nB.E./B.Tech (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical, ECE, Instrumentation, or Computer Science, with 3-7 years of hands-on experience\n\nComfort working on Linux: shell, SSH, systemd/services, logs, file systems and networking (IP configuration, ping/traceroute, basic tcpdump)\n\nExperience with embedded Linux, industrial IoT or field-deployed systems\n\nA methodical approach to debugging: you isolate problems rather than guess\n\nSolid electrical and electronics troubleshooting skills: multimeter, power supplies, batteries, continuity, connectors, and reading a schematic or block diagram\n\nAbility to read code (Python/Bash/C) well enough to follow logs and narrow down software issues\n\nClear, confident communication in English and Hindi, both technical and interpersonal\n\nComposure under pressure, including when something misbehaves mid-demo in front of senior officers\n\nA checklist mindset and an eye for detail, because a missed cable or skipped check matters\n\nWillingness to travel extensively, often to remote locations, at short notice and for extended periods\n\nGood to have\nExperience with defence trials (DRDO, Army, Navy, Air Force, CAPF) or defence PSU field support\n\nExposure to RF systems, SDRs, antennas, spectrum analysers or drones/UAS\n\nExperience with GPS/GNSS, rugged hardware or tactical networking\n\nFamiliarity with military structure, ranks and protocol\n\nField documentation experience such as trial reports, test procedures and acceptance test protocols\n\nComfort with Android devices and debugging over adb\n\nYou'll thrive here if you are\nA first-principles thinker who asks \"what must be true for this to work?\" before swapping parts\n\nGood with ownership, because the trial outcome would be your responsibility, not just a task\n\nSomeone who is happy to say \"I don't know, I'll find out\", honest under scrutiny\n\nPhysically fit and at ease in austere conditions\n\nDown-to-earth, and just as ready to carry equipment, set up a mast, or debug a connector at 6 a.m. as to run the demo\n\nOur Hiring Process\nWe target to close the hiring process within 14 days of your application.\nRound 1: Screening Application & HR Round\nDuration: 1 hour \nHow to ace: Be yourself. We want to know YOU, not some ideal, unrealistic person. Demonstrate your expertise in the area we are evaluating. Ask good questions. Codeword: Use LastMile in the application form where it asks you for Codeword. This way we know you have read the JD :)\nRound 2: Culture Fitment\nDuration: 1 hour \nHow to ace: Help us understand your goals & aspirations. Share some of the stories that have made you what you are. Ask good questions.\nRound 3: Technical Round\nDuration: 1 hour \nHow to ace: Walk us through your experience and how you think. Tell us about the toughest thing you've debugged in the field, what you ruled out, and how you got there. We're looking for clarity, depth, and practical problem-solving.\nRound 4:In-Person Meet\nDuration: 1 hour\nHow to ace: Visit us in Gurgaon, meet the team, and see what we're building. Be yourself. We want to know YOU, not some ideal, unrealistic person. Share some of the stories that have made you what you are. Ask good questions.\nCongratulations! You are now a part of Armory. You will build something that lets you sleep at night with a feeling that you did something meaningful. Buckle up for a ride into the future.\nWork Location\nArmory highly values having employees working in the office. We are establishing a collaborative work environment and company culture, and that simply does not happen from home. We are based out of Gurgaon, and when you are not in the field, we expect you in the office. In this role, expect to spend a significant part of your time travelling to trial sites across India.\nBenefits\nWhat we expect from you\nGenuine curiosity\n\nFounder's mindset\n\nFirst principles thinking\n\nExecution, not just ideas\n\nBias for action\n\nHigh energy\n\nHigh agency\n\nHighest level of integrity\n\nGetting your hands dirty\n\nAudacious state of mind\n\nWhat to expect from us\nTeam of A players\n\nWork directly with the founder\n\nRidiculous levels of responsibility\n\nFast & decisive approach\n\nWork on hard problems\n\nWhat your first 3 months at Armory will look like:\n30 Days\nComplete onboarding, understand the mission, meet the team, and understand ongoing projects and priorities.\n\nLearn the system inside out: hardware, RF chain, software stack, and the pre-deployment, on-site, and post-trial checklists.\n\nShadow BD and a senior engineer on a live trial or demonstration.\n\nIdentify at least one gap in our field checklists or trial reporting. [redacted]\n\n\n\nHandle on-site troubleshooting and escalate to the engineering team with clean symptoms, logs, and photos.\n\nDeliver your first complete, structured trial report with user feedback and incidents.\n\nLog field learnings as bugs and feature requests that R&D picks up.\n\n90 Days\nIndependently own the technical side of a trial end-to-end, from packing list to post-trial report.\n\nBrief user personnel on operation and basic maintenance with confidence.\n\nContribute technical inputs to trial directives and compliance matrices with BD.\n\nDevelop a long-term plan for personal growth and development within the c","description_format":"text","description_chars":9361,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"Hindi","level":"Upper-Intermediate (B2)","optional":false},{"language":"English","level":"Upper-Intermediate (B2)","optional":false}]},"benefits":["Continuous learning"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Robotics","Drones & UAVs"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-05T12:24:32Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-07T05:47:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/armory-forward-deployed-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/armory-forward-deployed-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-08T00:29:38Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":697,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4303,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-09T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3780798},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3780798"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Farmory-forward-deployed-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Farmory-forward-deployed-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Farmory-forward-deployed-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/armory-forward-deployed-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Farmory-forward-deployed-engineer"}]}
