Armstrong Fluid Technology is more than just a leader in our industry; we are a community of the brightest and most creative minds, driven by a shared mission to engineer the future and safeguard our planet.\nAs part of our team, you'll be immersed in an environment that fosters growth, creativity, and collaboration. Here, you'll have the opportunity to push boundaries, tackle exciting challenges, and develop cutting-edge solutions that promote energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Every day offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future, driving innovations that help lower global carbon footprints. Together, we’re creating a legacy that goes beyond business-one that’s changing the world for the better.\nIn this role, you will work directly with the control team to define requirements and design the next-generation hardware and software topology for our optimization product line - developed and released as a standard product, not as a series of one-off custom solutions. This role is critical to our initiative of unifying multiple controller platforms into a single Soft PLC platform, enabling advanced control features, improving system performance, and reducing overall operational costs.\nThe Control Engineer will bring a standardized product development mindset to everything we build: control solutions that are repeatable and reliable across every unit we manufacture, and that are released with standard Bills of Materials (BOMs), controlled drawings, and clearly documented functionality. Responsibilities include migrating legacy applications to the new platform as standardized, configurable product applications, supporting platform integration, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance reliability and scalability. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to strategic technology initiatives that directly impact product performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term business growth.\nKey Accountabilities\nStandardized Product Development\nDesign control system hardware and software as standard, configurable products - establishing standard control architectures, application templates, and reusable code libraries that are repeatable across product variants and manufacturing plants.\nDefine and maintain standard BOMs, controlled drawings, and documented product functionality for control system offerings, ensuring every unit shipped is built, configured, and behaves the same way.\nApply design-for-manufacturability, design-for-serviceability, and configuration management principles so that control products can be produced, tested, and supported at scale by production and service teams.\nPlatform Unification & Application Migration\nLead migration of legacy control applications to the unified Soft PLC platform, converting one-off legacy applications into standardized, version-controlled product applications.\nDesign and execute HMI migrations using standard templates and consistent interface patterns across the product line.\nCoordinate changes to control logic, configuration, and system documentation through formal engineering change management (ECR/ECN/ECO), keeping BOMs, drawings, and software baselines aligned at every release.\nProduct Quality, Validation & Release\nImplement advanced control features and system enhancements within the standard product architecture - extending the platform rather than creating custom variants.\nWork with cross-functional teams to create and monitor development and rollout plans for new platform capabilities, following a structured (stage-gate) product development process.\nDefine and execute standard test procedures, validation protocols, and acceptance criteria so that performance and reliability are verified consistently on every unit produced.\nParticipate in design reviews, DFMEA/risk assessments, troubleshooting sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nTo thrive in this role, you should bring:\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or a related field\nMinimum 5-7 years of experience in control systems engineering or industrial automation, including hands-on experience developing standard, repeatable products - not solely one-off, project-based systems.\nProven experience with PLC/Soft PLC platforms, control logic programming, and system integration within a formal product development lifecycle (e.g., stage-gate / NPD).\nFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Bacnet) and system testing methodologies.\nDemonstrated experience with engineering change management, BOM and drawing release, and configuration control in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams on large-scale engineering initiatives.\nTechnical Skills\nIndustrial Automation & Control SystemsPLC programming background utilizing Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text - with emphasis on modular, reusable, and version-controlled code libraries.\nHMI Design & Development\nControl Logic Design & Troubleshooting\nStandardized Product Development: standard BOMs, controlled drawings, configuration management, and engineering change processes (ECR/ECN/ECO)\nDesign for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Serviceability, and DFMEA\nCarel and JACE PLC\n\nNetwork and Communication protocolsIndustrial Networking: Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Bacnet\nNetwork Troubleshooting & Configuration\n\nHVAC industry experience is a must\nKnowledge of different control algorithm and model is an asset (PID control)\nSoft Skills\nThe capability to simplify complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations.\nTeam-oriented leadership skills with a proactive approach.\nA product mindset - the discipline to design for repeatability, reliability, and scale rather than building one-off solutions, and to follow standard documentation and release processes.\nAn ability to communicate openly and authentically in all situations.\nWhy Armstrong Fluid Technology?\nBy joining us, you’ll become part of a global community dedicated to pushing the boundaries of fluid-flow technology while upholding Armstrong's commitment to sustainability. You’ll have endless opportunities to learn, grow, and make a significant impact on the world. Together, we'll build tomorrow’s solutions today.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6645,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-10T17:36:51Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":20,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.543,"p_room":0.36,"age_days":90,"expected_fill_days":56,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:tail","crowd:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-11-02T06:13:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/armstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/armstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-03T05:28:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":7470,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-04T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":668699},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=668699"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Farmstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Farmstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Farmstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/armstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Farmstrongfluidtechnology-controls-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":599590}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"armstrongfluidtechnology.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":599590},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
