As a consultant, you will work with our Alternative Asset Firm and Family Office clients to provide expert advice. Having previously served in this leadership role, you have specific, hands-on experience supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in managing the day-to-day accounting and finance functions for a leading Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office.\nCore Areas of Expertise\nBest practice reviews.\n\nDeveloping realistic and effective action plans.\n\nBreaking apart goals into actionable steps.\n\nAdvising on vendor selection and oversight.\n\nCreating and implementing policies, procedures, and control measures.\n\nEvaluating each client’s advancement toward goal actualization through key performance indicators (KPIs) and scoring matrices.\n\nSpecial projects or other areas of need.\n\nMaintain the financial records of the firm, through collaboration with and management of the firm’s external accounting company and the CFO through the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns and regulatory agency reports.\n\nControl and review the payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions\n\nManage the month-end close process, which includes collaborating with the CFO, external accountants, and other teams across the firm.\n\nEnhance the operational efficiency, timeliness, and quality of the firm’s financial reporting through the collection, consolidation, and analysis of financial data.\n\nManage accounts receivables and payables including the timely collection of receivables and payment of invoices.\n\nProvide senior leadership with information vital to decision-making processes including budget versus actual reporting, cash balances and forecasted liquidity, and other KPIs such as variances, trends, and deficiencies.\n\nBased on historical trends and analyses, build pro forma financial models to help predict the impact of potential decisions.\n\nHelp to ensure the fiscal integrity of the company’s business through the enhancement and management of accounting systems, a strong control environment and checks and balances to minimize risk.\n\nLead the audit and tax processes by working closely with the external auditors and tax accountants and responding to requests as needed.\n\nAssist with quarterly and annual SEC and regulatory reporting/filings as it relates to providing all financial and accounting data.\n\nWhat You Bring\nA Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field.\n\nCPA designation or advanced degree (MBA, etc.) is a plus.\n\n6+ years of prior work experience, specifically as a Controller for an Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office.\n\n4+ years of proven experience in a financial or accounting capacity with an Alternative Asset Firm, Family Office, or Big 4 accounting firm.\n\nHave extensive experience with cash and working capital management and forecasting, as well as strong technical accounting skills, GAAP accounting, and management reporting experience.\n\nStrong technical skills, particularly with Microsoft applications (Word and Excel), and a proven proficiency in accounting software or financial applications (QuickBooks, etc.)\n\nIn-depth understanding of various financial instruments, investment types, vehicle structures, asset classes, tax regulations and financial covenants.\n\nHighly organized, strong attention to detail and able to prioritize with excellent management and supervisory
