We operate throughout the UK from six strategic locations - Crewe, Bristol, Eastleigh, Cambridge, Tyne Yard and Scarborough.\nArriva TrainCare is part of Arriva, and you’ll be part of a professional team with these core behaviours at heart:\nWe care passionately\nWe do the right thing\nWe make the difference\nBenefits include 25 days annual leave (plus standard UK bank holidays), pension, life and healthcare cover, Arriva UK Trains Travel Pass, Cycle to Work scheme and Arriva Village retailer discount scheme.\nThe Role:\nWorking in our Tyne Yard depot and reporting into the Light Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles in line with laid down standards and procedures, supporting continuous improvement in quality, safety and reliability.\nThis role operates on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, working 19:00 - 05:30, averaging 35 hours per week.\nResponsibilities:\nCarry out work as allocated by the Team Leader within set timescales and to recognised standards.\nOperate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures.\nEnsure that safety procedures and documentation are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local instructions.\nEnsure that worksheets are signed off correctly and promptly on completion of work.\nEnsure that appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are always followed.\nAttend technical, quality, safety and general briefings, ensuring any actions raised are completed.\nMaintain good housekeeping and a consistent standard of cleanliness throughout the depot.\nUse all PPE in accordance with standards and local instructions.\nAssist the Team Leader as required to ensure rolling stock availability and reliability targets are met.\nMaintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.\nWhat You Bring:\nQualifications - A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), ideally with experience of rail traction and rolling stock.\nExperience - Previous involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities.\nKnowledge - A good understanding of depot operations with the ability to interpret engineering drawings.\nEngineering - A sound understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.\nReady to start your next journey?\nIf you’re passionate about making a difference and supporting Arriva TrainCare, we’d love to hear from you.
