Responsibilities span analyzing user requirements to derive design and performance standards, developing and debugging software, integrating systems, and implementing algorithms to meet performance goals. The ideal candidate has front end experience, translates UX/UI designs into accessible, production-ready interfaces, and mentor's junior developers while collaborating closely with system engineers and product stakeholders to resolve technical problem areas. The position will support one of our government clients in Annapolis Junction, MD.\nResponsibilities\nDevelops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. \nWorks individually or as part of a team. \nReviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. \nResolves software problem reports. \nUtilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. \nProvides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. \nLead and mentor a team of UI/front-end developers, providing technical guidance, standards, and code review.\nArchitect and implement scalable, maintainable front-end solutions using modern frameworks.\nTranslate prototypes and design specifications into functional, responsive, and accessible interfaces.\nCollaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs, ensuring efficient data flow between front-end and back-end systems.\nContribute to full-stack development efforts as needed, including backend services, database interactions, and deployment pipelines.\nPartner with UX/UI and systems engineers to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation.\nIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks, cross-browser issues, and technical debt.\nParticipate in sprint planning, technical estimation, and architectural decision-making.\nEnsure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) throughout development.\nMinimum Qualifications\nProven experience leading or mentoring a development team\nStrong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)\nFull-stack experience, including backend development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, RESTful/GraphQL API design\nExperience with state management, component-based architecture, and responsive design\nFamiliarity with version control (Git) CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud is a plus)\nExperience working closely with UX/UI and systems engineers to ensure accurate implementation of accessible interfaces\nExperience working with tiered architectural systems and in a Linux/Ubuntu environment is a plus\nTwelve (12) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.\nBachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. \nFour (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelors degree.\nSeven (7) years' experience in Software Database and Repository Interface Development.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAnalyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements\nDebug existing software and correct defects\nProvide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards\nDesign and code new software or modify existing software to add new features\nIntegrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments\nDevelop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories\nWrite or review software and system documentation\nServe as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project\nDesign or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries\nDevelop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards\nAssist with developing and executing test procedures for software components\nDevelop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers;
