You’ll combine deep technical expertise with leadership, helping define our data engineering strategy, and enabling the team to deliver high-quality solutions.\nWhy this role?\nBecause this isn’t a role where you inherit someone else’s platform and roadmap.\nYou’ll help create them.\nYou’ll have the opportunity to shape the technical direction of a new digital bank, build a high-performing data engineering culture, and create a platform that can support everything from everyday banking to the next generation of AI-powered experiences.\nEvery day, you’ll be #closer and:\nLead the data engineering direction - help define the architecture, technology choices, engineering principles, and roadmap for our new data platform.\n\nBuild the foundations - design and implement ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and data processing capabilities from scratch.\n\nLead the migration journey - bring existing data flows currently managed by external vendors into our own engineering ecosystem.\n\nBuild a platform ready for AI - create the data foundations needed for future capabilities such as Conversational Analytics.\n\nEnable engineers to do their best work - mentor team members, share knowledge, provide technical guidance, and promote engineering excellence.\n\nPartner across the bank - collaborate with architects, product managers, software engineers, analysts, and external partners to turn business needs into robust data solutions.\n\nSet the quality bar - establish practices around testing, observability, documentation, security, performance, and maintainability.\n\nTo be #closer, you’ll bring:\nStrong experience in Data Engineering, with a track record of taking ownership of complex data platforms or products.\n\nExperience designing scalable and reliable data architectures.\n\nExperience leading technical initiatives and engineering teams.\n\nStrong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.\n\nAdvanced programming skills in Python or another relevant programming language.\n\nHands-on experience with data orchestration technologies such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Mage.\n\nStrong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including Git, CI/CD, testing, code quality, and observability.\n\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to align technical decisions with business goals.\n\nA strong ownership mindset and the confidence to lead in a greenfield environment where not everything is defined yet.\n\nIt would be even #closer if you have:\nBuilt or led the development of a data platform from scratch.\n\nExperience with Terraform, Ansible, or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.\n\nExperience with Docker and containerized environments.\n\nHands-on experience with dbt and modern data modeling.\n\nFamiliarity with AI/ML, LLMs, or Conversational Analytics.\n\nExperience in Agile/Scrum environments.\n\nExperience working with regulated environments, financial services, or banking.\n\nBeing #closer means you’ll get:\nThe green light for your ideas.
