The primary role of the R&D Chemist is to accelerate the product development program for the paints and coatings business line. Responsibilities include product design, formulation and application through pilot plant stage and commercialization. Additional duties include production process optimization, trouble shooting, material qualifications, quality control and customer support\nEssential Job Functions:\nDemonstrates scientific/technical leadership at project level by taking scientific decisions for complex scientific problems.\nPlans experimental lab work (scheduling, design, safety measures, coordination with associated services).\nResponsible for the design and implementation of development plans to achieve defined milestones and deliver results.\nCollects, summarizes, analyses interdependent and complex data and takes conclusions based on data, and makes presentations, as appropriate, to disseminate best practice throughout the function.\nProvides technical leadership in scientific area of expertise and leading professionals and technicians to accelerate development programs.\nOptimizes development workflows to deliver reproducible results and robust conclusions.\nMentors research associates to assist with efforts in product development stage gates.\nMaintains and develops expertise in various laboratory testing methods and techniques, including regular development of novel methods for diverse application areas.\nValidates and tests early-stage testing for new product ideas in order to understand their relevance for end-use applications\nAs a project lead, works with interdisciplinary teams to advance technologies into commercialization phase.\nWorks with external and internal R&D functions to assist with achieving project goals, as required.\nResponsible for Arxada’s Safety and Regulatory Compliance Program.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nPh.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry.\nBusiness fluency in English (spoken and written).\n3-5 years technical experience with a demonstrated track record of scientific excellence and technical problem solving.\nSkilled in paint formulation chemistry, product development, performance and application testing.\nTechnical expertise product development processes, validation, endpoint measurements, and statistical analysis.\nEntrepreneurial, ethical, and detail oriented.\nOutstanding research and analytical skills, technical and scientific expertise with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to transit from concept-to-results independently.\nExcellent time management skills, effective with multitasking, capable of prioritization, and adept ability to improvise work plans while maintaining efficiency\nArxada has world class offering in two distinct areas:\nMicrobial Control Solutions (MCS) focuses on threats posed by microorganisms to people and planet through five distinct business lines including Professional Hygiene, Home & Personal Care, Wood Protection, Paints & Coatings and Material Protection.\nNutrition, Care & Environmental (NCE), meanwhile, provides materials used to manufacture composites for electronics, aerospace and other markets, as well as vitamins and nutritional ingredients, chemicals and performance intermediates, and raw materials for a wide range of high-performance applications.\nArxada is an equal opportunity employer.
