You’ll design and evolve foundational systems (APIs, data flows, infrastructure patterns, reliability standards) while acting as a force multiplier for multiple teams.\nYou will work directly with the CTO and senior engineers to solve the hardest architectural problems in the system.\nIf you like untangling complex systems, building primitives other teams depend on, and making engineering organizations move faster - this role is for you.\nWhat You’ll Own\nPlatform-wide architecture across backend services and infrastructure\n\nReliability, scalability, and operational excellence\n\nDeveloper experience and internal tooling\n\nTechnical direction across teams\n\nCross-team architectural standards\n\nHigh-impact system redesigns\n\nEngineering leverage and mentorship\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign and evolve Arya’s platform architecture across services and data systems\n\nLead technical design for cross-cutting initiatives (multi-tenancy, permissions, async workflows, scaling)\n\nIdentify and eliminate architectural bottlenecks\n\nEstablish best practices for observability, service ownership, and incident response\n\nBe deeply hands-on in code when it matters\n\nPartner with product and leadership to align technical and business strategy\n\nMentor senior engineers and raise technical standards across the organization\n\nWho You Are\n10+ years of professional software engineering experience\n\nPrior principal-level impact in at least one role\n\nDesigned and operated large-scale distributed systems\n\nStrong backend engineering background\n\nExcellent architectural judgment\n\nComfortable owning systems end-to-end\n\nAble to influence without authority\n\nLow-ego, high-ownership mindset\n\nExcited to build in-person with a small, high-trust team\n\nTechnical Experience We Value\n(Depth matters more than box-checking.)\nBackend systems in Node.js, Python\n\nPostgreSQL and data-heavy applications\n\nDistributed systems and asynchronous processing\n\nCloud infrastructure (GCP and/or AWS)\n\nKubernetes and Docker\n\nCI/CD pipelines\n\nObservability (logging, metrics, tracing)\n\nMulti-tenant SaaS architectures\n\n30-60-90 Day Plan (Accelerated, Principal-Level)\nDays 0-30 - System Mastery & Early Leverage\nGoal: Become dangerous fast.\nDeep dive into Arya’s platform architecture\n\nAudit scaling bottlenecks and reliability risks\n\nBuild strong trust with senior engineers\n\nIdentify 2-3 high-leverage platform improvements\n\nShip at least one meaningful architectural fix\n\nDeliverables:\nWritten platform assessment\n\nOne high-impact improvement shipped or underway\n\nClear articulation of architectural risks and tradeoffs\n\nDays 31-60 - Architecture Ownership\nGoal: Shape direction.\nLead design for a cross-team architectural initiative\n\nRefine or establish platform standards\n\nImprove observability and reliability patterns\n\nMentor engineers through structured design reviews\n\nDeliverables:\nOne major platform RFC approved and in execution\n\nMeasurable improvement in system reliability or developer velocity\n\nReduced architectural load on CTO\n\nDays 61-90 - Force Multiplier\nGoal: The organization moves faster because you’re here.\nOwn platform roadmap for next 2-3 quarters\n\nProactively resolve systemic risks\n\nEstablish platform SLAs and reliability targets\n\nClarify system ownership boundaries\n\nDeliverables:\nPlatform roadmap aligned with company goals\n\nClear ownership model across services\n\nIncreased engineering velocity and stability\n\nOUR VALUES\nYou will thrive at Arya if you can:\n1.
