We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team to help maintain and modernize our data loading tier. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers to enhance platform reliability, optimize data processing pipelines, and ensure smooth operational throughput across our global infrastructure.\nThis role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.\nWhat you’ll achieve\nDevelop, test, and operate scalable backend microservices, caching layers, and high-throughput data processing platforms.\nParticipate across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including system design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.\nBuild and optimize relational and non-relational storage interactions, streaming data pipelines, and database query pathways.\nPartner cross-functionally with product engineering teams to integrate backend infrastructure with new product features and enterprise capabilities.\nMaintain platform health and operational standards by participating in standard team on-call rotations, debugging production issues, and refining monitoring tools.\nWrite clean, maintainable, well-documented code while actively participating in code reviews and architectural discussions.\nAbout you\n2+ years of experience working within large, well-maintained codebases\nExperience operating backend services in production, including writing operational tooling, setting up monitoring/alerts, and resolving live operational incidents.\nPossesses familiarity with modern containerized environments, cloud infrastructure, and microservice architectures.\nKnowledge around working with relational and/or non-relational storage systems, real-time data streaming, or caching layers is a plus.\nCommunicates clearly and collaboratively with engineers and other cross-functional teams.\nDemonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.\nAt Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.\nIn addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
