within modern distributed and cloud-based architectures.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.\nLead API design efforts, including API contracts, versioning, authentication/authorization, error handling, observability, and performance.\nBuild event-driven and asynchronous solutions using Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, and event-processing patterns.\nDesign and develop solutions leveraging Elasticsearch for high-volume indexing, querying, search, and data retrieval.\nIntegrate APIs and services with Kafka, Elasticsearch, databases, and other enterprise platforms.\nDesign solutions for high availability, scalability, resiliency, and fault tolerance.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues involving APIs, distributed services, Kafka messaging, and Elasticsearch.\nDevelop automated unit, integration, and API tests and contribute to strong engineering and CI/CD practices.\nParticipate in architecture and design reviews and recommend improvements to existing applications and integrations.\nPerform code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.\nPartner with architects, product teams, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions.\nRequired Qualifications\nStrong professional experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (10 years +) building enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems.\nExpert-level experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.\nStrong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including:\nProducers and consumers\nTopics and partitions\nConsumer groups\nEvent-driven architecture\nMessage serialization and schemas\nError handling, retries, and dead-letter/error-processing patterns\nMonitoring and troubleshooting\nStrong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, including:\nIndex design and mappings\nQuery development\nData ingestion and indexing\nSearch optimization\nPerformance tuning and troubleshooting\nStrong development experience with Java/Spring Boot or a comparable enterprise development stack.\nExperience building high-volume, highly available distributed applications.\nStrong understanding of API security and authentication patterns, including OAuth 2.0/JWT.\nExperience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.\nExperience working with containerized/cloud-native applications using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nStrong debugging, performance analysis, and production support skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, or Confluent Platform.\nExperience with the broader Elastic Stack, including Kibana and Logstash.\nExperience developing solutions on Azure, AWS, or another major cloud platform.\nExperience with API management/gateway technologies.\nUnderstanding of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and API-first development.\nExperience with observability platforms and distributed application monitoring.\nExperience operating APIs, Kafka workloads, and Elasticsearch at significant
