Ascot exists to solve for our clients’ brightest tomorrow, through agility, collaboration, resilience, and discipline.\nPosition Overview:\nWe are seeking an experienced growth-oriented Senior Underwriter, E&S Casualty with wholesale broker relationships and knowledge of E&S Casualty risks. The Senior Underwriter, E&S Casualty, will have frequent interaction with wholesale brokers in providing coverage for new and renewal businesses based on the customers’ needs. You will work with internal and external business partners to find insurance solutions for risks. The ideal candidate will work in a team environment, demonstrate a strong customer focus that will over time, reinforce E&S Casualty’s appetite and strategy. The ideal candidate will possess strong decision-making skills, be detailed oriented, and be able to build & sustain relationships, results driven and have a track record of working in a fast-paced environment.\nResponsibilities:\nGrow and maintain a profitable book of business through execution of individual risk underwriting and adherence to the strategic plan of the unit. \nUnderwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. \nWork independently within delegated underwriting authority and make referrals as required. \nCultivate and maintain relationships with peers, leaders and internal partners across functional areas to identify cross-selling opportunities, assist in product development and operational excellence.\nFoster and maintain external relationships with wholesale brokers in an effort to market and sell Ascot’s products.\nProvide superior service to brokers and clients and create visibility through consistent engagement with trading partners. \nWork independently within delegated underwriting authority and make referrals as required. \nStay current on competition, underwriting environment, market conditions and share that knowledge with colleagues and leadership. \nPerform other duties as assigned.\nCommit to The Ascot Way: Embody The Ascot Way in their daily interaction with colleagues, fostering colleague engagement and development, collaboration, inclusivity, and individual accountability.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.\nMinimum of 4 years of underwriting experience in the P&C insurance industry experience, with General Liability and Excess Liability preferred. \nDeep knowledge of insurance products, insurance regulations and the insurance industry.\nStrong collaborative skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.\nStrong critical thinking skills.\nExcellent organizational, desk management and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.\nMust be positive, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.\nPossess strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills.\nExcellent oral and written communication skills, ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers.\nSolution oriented team player with a strong relationship management skill set working with both internal and external stakeholders and customers.\nProficient in Microsoft Office. \nASLI, CPCU, ARM or other relevant professional designation preferred, but not required.\nAbility to travel 10-15%. \n***This position may be filled at a different level, depending on experience***\nCompensation\nActual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills.
